RROD LEDs get ditched in Xbox 360 Slim |
Listed in: Xbox 360 Tags: xbox 360 titles

The Xbox 360 Slim is indeed slimmer, but does this mean that chances of getting RROD'd on it is now slim as well? Microsoft seems to believe so, as they ditched the RROD display on their new hardware.
Now, don't get your hopes all up high now. Just because they opted to replace those dreaded LEDs for a new messaging system that will inform you of a breakdown, it doesn't mean that it's guaranteed that you won't be getting RROD'd anymore. With the new system in place, it just basically means that they'll be more discreet in delivering to you the bad news.
Microsoft Game Studios corporate VP Phil Spencer explains, "Now obviously, the box has a way to communicate to you if something has happened but yes, three red lights are not part of our sequence of telling somebody something is wrong."
He continues to explain, "Obviously if you look at the success rate of the original 360s, we're very proud of both the way the company stepped up to support the customers that we had as well as the success rate we have iwth the box today. I think we've learned a lot. That learning has gone into the development of this new box."

So they are telling everyone the slim 360 wont show you the RROD anymore. What will it do when you get a hardware failure? I say WHEN is it WILL get it as its still a xbox360.
(I'm not a ps3fanboy as I have 5 Xbox360s)

They have a different way of showing it, how I don't know as they don't say in the article.

You would say IF were you to leave it to chance...
Also, RROD is an error, but has become synonymous with just any broke ass 360....as there was a lot more that could go wrong that just gpu overheating...
My 360 overheated constantly but would not give the actual 3 rings so I couldn't get the 3 year warranty....that's when I bought a ps3.
It was obvious too cuz after playing awhile the fans would kick into overgear and drown out the game sounds...then the system would shut off. Taking it apart, doing every cooling mod to it. Then moving the dvd drive out of the way and having a house fan blowing on top of the system allowed it to live with random crashes....got sick of it.

You do realise you don't need a seperate 360 for each game you want to play - right?
You can get the disk out again by pressing the eject button!

I've bought one Jasper, around the time it came out, not had a single problem with it, play it all the time.
Besides, this article doesn't say that the hardware failures have stopped, just that they've removed the lights, there would still be other ways for it to communicate errors.
Once again, QJ throwing buzzwords to get attention for pointless news.
