Xbox 360 Elite - Image 1BrandIntel, a research firm focusing on online market intelligence solutions has made public its findings regarding the perceptions of consumers regarding the Xbox 360 Elite package and concluded that the upgraded system is causing more frustration than excitement.

The firm says that 18 percent of the total online discussions related to the product were brought about by negative sentiments of readers while only 7 percent emanated from positive reactions to the value and content of the deal.

BrandIntel says that the timing of the launch may have triggered such reactions and tipped consumer opinion about Microsoft's game machine. The researchers also said that the response to Elite is a stark contrast to the positive user response to the PlayStation 3 and Wii.

There is good news though. BrandIntel says 48 percent of Xbox 360 users are interested in buying the system or the stand-alone hard drive. The firm admits that it based its findings exclusively on web-based data gathering methods.

» ELITE for me

LOL ONLINE DISCUSSION !!!! Maybe they should of checked that the people they asked have not already got a PS3 because their answer would be pointless and should not count.

Im getting the Elite on release day and hopefully I will have enough for Forza 2,Blue Dragon and Mass effect which should also be out by then.

» Elite really looks a great piece of kit

I agree thats a stupid why to see how people are responding to a product as you see from this site anything PS3 or 360 is always met with negative results from the opposite console owners.

The Elite looks to be the machine that really is going to slot into the perfect place in the console market, I shall be getting One and also keep my Wii.

of course you are going to get more negative feedback about it. the main reason most people buy consoles are that they do not have to upgrade their hardware, unless its a minor add-on. I waited a long time before I got my 360 to see if they were going to release a HDMI breakout cable for it, but they kept saying HDMI was not needed. then they later release a new system with it, that I assume will finally allow for a full 1080P for the HD-DVD add-on, tell the early adopters to suck it!

» its crap

its basically kicking the people who already own a console saying yours aint good enough now you gotta buy it again to make it better. MS says there console is perfect and better than the ps3 HDMI and a bigger HDD aint needed then they release this! its proof that all MS talk is complete BS. I got my premium just b4 christmas as I was also waiting for a better one and they kept saying there aint gonna be one so I finally but done 280 big ones (UK) and bought one then I find out they was lieing?? Can a company really do this and get away with it??

I should never have sold my PS3 MS have the worst support ever and you seen the price of the standalone drive?? I could buy 5 120gbs for a PS3 for the same price! I'm talk 2.5" ones here... and they wondering y they get bad feedback..

» Well DUH!

Its only been a year and a half and there is already a new version of the system.

I think i was more disappointed with the price of the Elite and the 120GB HDD. I think MS should have dropped the price of the premium and core and then released the Elite for $400. I guess people that bought the Premium recently for $400 would of been more upset if this happened. The price of the 120GB HDD is just stupid, and I will need ever buy it for that price. I don't really need more then 20GB but I'll probably use TheSpecialist's hack to upgrade to a third party 120GB drive. The good news for core users is that second hand 20GB HDDs are going to be real cheap.

so you work at mcdonalds, huh? No wonder you don't have a ps3, WORK MORE HOURS STUPID... Don't sit here and think you aren't getting fu cked by microsoft when you buy an xbox l337.. moron. You go get one, and hopefully you can afford a life. Stupid fu cking child.

The response is negative because it's bad for customers to buy something then have a better something available within a friggin year. The point of consoles, is that unlike a PC where you HAVE to upgrade to play games, a console is supposed to be good from the start. You create fear when customers see that you are totally open to changing things and adding features whenever you feel like it, leaving early adopters in the dark.

The 'elite' is a joke. Why pay as much as a ps3 for something that just isn't?? If you complain that ms doesn't make you buy the hddvd buy sony makes us buy the bluray, then for $500 either way, why the HELL would you buy an xbox?

Looks at the DS and the DS Lite, or the GBA and the GBA SP moron.

» licks balls....

Grow up - if you think that people work more hours and spend more of their life droning away at work so they can spend a few hours with a piece of technology that makes them a little relaxed after that long day at work in an endless cycle like this - then you're helpless.

by Kristian - 2007-03-31 10:53
» That's why I don't buy Nintendo...

I think it is stupid to release a product then within 1-2 years release a better product knowing that it has a lifespan of about 5 years and that your early adopters are going to feel disadvantaged.

When Sony released the PSone model of the PSX it was near the end of its life - the PS2 was about to launch.

When the PS2 slim was launched it was a well accepted model change. Time had passed and people warmed to the idea. Sure, you lost the ability to use the HDD (which wasn't a big loss for many) but you gained ethernet support and the price didn't change.

But this elite deal seems so raunchy - I waited for a while - didn't buy the core system because I didn't want to purchase accessories. But now my pro system sits there and I look at it and think - with all adopters of the elite my system is going to look like a core system in perspective and the extra money I spent seems pointless.

Yes, I am mad that I was told there wouldn't be an upgraded console as a response to the PS3 launch. Many people are.

I am happy about one thing though. I have always thought that the 360 was butt ugly. Looks the least attractive of the Wii, ps3. I am glad they didn't change the system and make it look amazing - just a color change that isn't that wonderful. At least I won't feel like the ugly duckling - but still out of the loop a little.

All I can say is the black looks like *****, I don't care about HDMI, I will not be upgrading, I'm just going to buy the harddrive if I ever need it.

» 3 console bundles

when the xbox360 elite comes out it'll be 3 console/s Microsoft will have under it's belt and it's only been over a year, is this an emerging trend for Microsoft?

Will Microsoft every year just release another 360 with added features which it should of had from the get go?

Seems like Microsoft is heading that way, so much for it's 'options' stance they supposedly give the consumer, at least the PS3 comes with everything it needs straight out of the box now it may be expensive because of that but at least their is peace of mine since nothing else will be changed from the console it's self and when the PS3 does get it's re-design everything will remain intact as only the physical size of the PS3 will get changed and no added cost just like the PS2 changed into a PS2-slime, the same goes with the Wii yet another console that it's owners will have peace of mind knowing the core functionality won't change.

by Xbox is the best - 2007-03-31 19:22
» why

why do people always want the latest thing just because it is new? If you have the premium system you have nothing to worry about, hdmi is not necessary unless you have a hdtv with only hdmi and no vga inputs, I watch movies fine on my xbox 360 with a vga port, if you want more harddrive space rather than buying an elite which cost 500 bucks just get the harddrive for 200 bucks, sure I think that the 120 gig harddrive should be 100 bucks but hey this is microsoft charging more because they know people are going to buy it no matter what.

» PS3 20 gig owners have been left out and now maybe an 80 gig version to

Thats the same for the PS3, they have 2 consoles ONE of which they have now dropped and im sure PS3 20 gig owners also feel cheated, and now they are talking about an 80 gig version so then the 60 gig owners will then feel cheated etc etc so why do you single out the 360 and not mention the PS3 in comparison?...

by murphdurf - 2007-04-01 12:27
» *****ing g@y!

this is *****ing gay. i, who bought a 360 right when they came out, am officialy pissed because theres already a new one out. microsoft is stupid.

» Dumb de dumb

You knew what you were buying when you bought it. Majority of people will not even take advantage of the HDMI support. Thats why it is not nessesary, its a perk. But im glad they came out with HDMI finally, becasue i was going to buy a second 360 for upstairs this year anyways.
