Recent Xbox Live update only Halo 3 launch preparations |
Ó
If you've noticed the fact that Xbox Live recently went down for an update, and you're wondering just what went down during said update, then wonder no more: it was to prepare for the launch of Bungie's highly-anticipated FPS title, Halo 3. Nope, it's not the dashboard update we've all been waiting for, it just the guys over at Microsoft making sure that everything's spic and span before Master Chief makes his grand appearance.
This brings up a lot of questions, though. Just exactly what was tinkered with in the update? A guess would be that Microsoft went ahead to make sure that the connections were optimized to handle the inevitable bulk of so many people going online to duke it out, Halo 3 style. Another would be to virally infect your Xbox 360 with subliminal halo 3 messages, but we're putting our money in the former. After all, Bungie doesn't really need to hype Halo 3 - it hypes itself.
It seems, though, that not all is well and good in post-update Xbox Live land, as some people are having issues with incorrect NAT type detection. If you're in the small percentage of players affected, worry not - the team has already been made aware of it, and they're working hard to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Nobody over at Microsoft or Bungie wants anyone to be left out, after all.
