This year's Penny Arcade Expo is in full swing, and our friends from Left4Friends are right in the thick of it, running the games gauntlet like marauders with a media pass. First up we have their first impressions on Halo 3: ODST's mutliplayer.

Here's what the Left4Friends posse thought of the game along with off-screen videos of the action that takes place in the game's Firefight mode.

The Good: So far, right as soon as PAX 2009 started we went straight for the ODST Booth. We had to wait a little bit but the wait was well worth it. As soon as we sat on those chairs right in front of the TV, we were stunned. The interface of Halo 3: ODST is just like its roots: Halo 3. The only mode available for play so far was Firefight but we were glad we had our hands in this.

The first few seconds we were amazed by how well the game has evolved since Halo 3, from the SMG and the pistol as your starter weapons. Their designs were changed heavily as the SMG now has a built in scope and a silencer. The pistol now features a scope again just like the first Halo. The recoil on the SMG is a lot lower than the regular one in Halo 3 and the pistol's recoil is that of a whiplash on the player himself.

Remember the flashlight from Halo 1 and #@%!8
7#@%!? These ODST Soldiers are fully equipped with new goggles that don't light the dark as well as a night light but do outline any possible threats in Red. You know what they say, Anything Green isn't that mean, Though Red is bloody as hell.

The game plays somewhat unfair but then again it's all based on luck and player skill. The game plays on rounds. Each round = Harder. There are 8 skulls on the side of the screen (Left Side) that depicts a different change in the game from "Nade Shower" and "More Aware".

The grunts are somewhat smarter, but not so much than they ever were before. There's tons of brutes and a load of action to keep you busy. Each round depends on lives. You're given a set amount of lives for each round and/or set or rounds -- then again most of the time you'll be too busy hiding because you bruise easier than a banana unlike M.C who takes damage like a sponge and barely dents.

In the end the game is not so bad. It was pretty epic in my opinion. The entire crew, (iPloxy, JetBlack200k, xXChaos345Xx and Me [Mastaz]) were all in a 4 Player LAN game. The game comes out September 2009.

The Bad: ODST soldiers somehow have the ability to ride the wind better than M.C. Your pistol has the ability to give you whiplash just firing once. ODST soldiers can rip out turrets and walk faster than the Chief could anyway. And apparently Bungie got lazy with the shield bar and you just start flashing red on the screen like Call of Duty when you're near death.

I am definitely liking the sound of the silencer on the SMG since it's my second favorite weapon, next to the Spiker which I actually totally suck at. Stay tuned for more PAX 09 updates from QJ.NET and Left4Friends.

These qj ads are really annoying, everywhere i go i see some EVONY hoochies.... oh yeah and they made this game to milk the Halo franchise even more imo. Microsoft should invest money in dairy farming.

How is Halo being milked again? There's only like 4 titles that are out right now. It's not like GH series when they release 3-5 titles a year. That I would consider milking and add Mario to the list.

» if thats your definition of milking

then I guess the FF series is being milked too? many spinoffs, items like keychains, animes, books, movies.

I wouldn't call Reach a spinoff though cause its a prequel and part of the main story.

Horrible!

How dare Microsoft soft use a Sharp Hd. T/v!

They should be using SamSung if you ask me its like there signature HD/T/V For all open 360's. =/

aside from that the game looks pretty badass sweet & itd take more then 13-20 hours of gameplay before we get bored of it from the looks of it.

Only the fit will survive & demolish the weak!.

LMAO :)
