Pwnage? Halo 3 pre-orders reach 4 million |

If you somehow survived the massive onslaught of "pwnage" found in QJ Blogger Gino D's report on that snazzy Halo 3 beta footage, here's more Halo news for you. This time, it's on how well the title's doing sales-wise, before it's even out. Xbox Evolved reports that Gamestop officials say that over four million preorders have been made for Bungie's Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. Xbox Evolved claims that they have verified this information at five different Greater Cincinnati Gamestop locations.
What's interesting about this bit of news is that it was noted that many Gamestop employees believe that a large portion of those who made the preorders are consumers who don't even own an Xbox 360, and are just waiting for the price of the system to go down. (That, or save up enough moolah to get one.)
Believe what you will about the Halo franchise, think what you wish about its "overrated-ness" you can't decry it for not having a large enough user base. Four million is mighty impressive.

Isnt it crazy, theres more preorders for Halo3 than there are PS3s sold. Not flaming, just noticed though.

And Gears of War hasn't even sold as many units worldwide...

I guess that halo 1 & 2 were worth the hype. Personally I didn't either one of them, but most people did.

btw i do like the ps3 more than the 360, BUT as yuo can tell i read both ps3 and 360 news on QJ, inever flame what i dont know,because yes, the 360 has great games, online,and style...but i went ps3 because come nov. there will be the "battle of fall games" In this console war

I don't understand why Halo is consider the 'God game' for Xbox. This game isn't even that fun at all or entertaining, and yes, I have played, I have a 360. *****, if there's anything worth getting, its something new like BioShock then a trilogy game..

Sorry, I'm a huge Halo fan, but this simply is not true, and anyone who thinks it is has no common sense.
You can ask any of the GameStops near you and I guarantee they will say they have no more than 200-300 preorders. All of mine say they have less than 250, and I live in a very busy area with lots of younger people. GameStop operates 4,066 stores in NA, so do the math. No store except for the biggest in the country has over 300 preorders, 4,066 x 300 = 1,219,800, and that's if they all hit that 300. Many don't even get 150, so the preorder count is no more than 800,000. That's still a big number granted, but four million is just outlandish.
pwnage was rooted in one of the first warcraft games... not WoW it was a message where a villan or someone said pwned after he killed you, It caught on, well that was one of the big factors but you could say that a typo coming from anyone could have started it

This is going to sell a huge amount of consoles and I expect MS are waiting to strike at Sony if they do a price drop or release a big Rehashed PS1 game launch(MGS4, FF etc) before release, like they did with Gears which completely drowned out the PS3 launch..
Look I love Halo but I would have to say he's right. Even with online preorders it isn't nearly 4 million. Don't you think if it was true it'd be all over the Net, and GameStop/EB themselves (along with Microsoft) would be flaunting it to the max? Either you are very naive or you just defend everything and anything about Halo
