Project Sylpheed - Image 1The editors over at gaming site IGN answer queries from fans every now and then. One of their readers sent in a letter and was asking about Square Enix and Unreal Engine 3. In case you aren't aware, Square Enix has announced before that it will be using the engine to pursue future projects with next-gen consoles.

Now, we don't know if it was intended or not,but editor Douglass unwittingly shed some details about space shooter Project Sylpheed. His response to the question was rather long but take note of what he said near the end:

Square's new MMORPG or even Kingdom Hearts III might come to PS3 and Xbox 360. Just guesses, of course. Project Sylpheed, by way, is coming to the U.S. and Microsoft is publishing it. Though I am not sure it uses the UT engine.

This is good news for X360 users if it turns out to be true. We were discussing about Sylpheed before and we all agree how excellent it was back in 1986. The closest we got to seeing the new game was through various screenshots and gameplay videos, albeit in Japanese.

While the IGN editor sounded so sure, we will still dig deeper into this and update you as soon we get our hands on more details.

It's a great game. I really want to see it come to North America.

The game looks tight, and I wish there were more space flight sims on Consoles, or even on PC for that matter...even though this will probably be more arcadey then sim, it's still cool...
