Here's another reason why you should get your hands on Valve's Half-Life 2: Episode Two. If the teaser trailer got you all agitated for Episode 2 then this very interesting gameplay video which features a new game included in Episode Two, called Portal, will just make you raving mad with excitement. It takes the portal element previously found in Prey and ran with it.

Portal is a new type of single player game that changes how players approach, manipulate, and surmise the possibilities of any given environment in a manner similar to how the Gravity Gun changed our approach to how an object may be leveraged in any given situation.

The video is available via Steam or just click on the download link below the article for the video.

How can people say this game looks anything like Prey?! This is an FPS puzzle game while, Prey was a FPS action horror. Cant wait for it on 360.Looking great

Looks great, can't wait. I think it'll be better for me on PC though, FPS games turn out fiddly on consoles.

Is there a rumoured release date yet?

Taking a good idea and making it better is the basis for many of the best games of all time.

Prey had portals yes, but the portals didn't do anything besides act as doors that just look cooler than doors and took to a more distant location.

Here, they actually make fun gameplay use of portals, which was lacking completely in prey. No challanges or puzzles were presented with portals in prey, they were only used in travelling. Portal is going to have the missing design elements that prey should have had.

That is a good thing.

I agree with #10.

That's the one thing I thought was missing from Prey. Was being able to create a portal or something. With Portal, that's what you are doing. It's the puzzle completer, not just a small role in the portal technology.

Can't wait to try this out.

No doubt the guys at GMOD will port this to the single player, can't wait!

How did they steal it from Prey? There is no portal gun in Prey.

To be honest, I don't think the idea was directly ripped from prey, it was actually inspired by a free game called Narbacular Drop. Most of the team which worked on Narbacular Drop are now working for Valve on portal.

Besides, even if they did steal the idea from prey in the first place, I know they'll at least make a good job of it.
