We gave you the heads up by giving you screens on the upcoming Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. Now, we managed to get dibs on what you guys can expect in the game. Famitsu gives us the lowdown on the planes and some aspects that players can expect in the game.

For the planes, we give you awesome screens of the usual culprits. The Typhoon, Tornado Gr.4, F-15E Strike Eagle, and A-10A Thunderbolt II are some of the planes that you would be using in the game.  Like previous Ace Combat games, you'll have the usual solo aerial sorties and assaults.  But it seems that for Ace Combat 6, Namco Bandai will be utilizing the Xbox 360's online play. You would be able to create teams and play missions with or against other teams. For every mission played, you get corresponding points and these points would earn you a spot in the ranking system of the game.

As for the story of Ace Combat 6, the Republic of Emmeria (still unofficial English translation) and the Federation of Estovakia (also unoffical) are at war. At the same time, the Earth is bombarded by meteorites from the asteroid Ulysses. The story comes from the perspectives of 7 people as they undergo this war, one of whom is an information officer who misses his wife and his beloved daughter.

The game is set to be released sometime this year. Until a final date comes, we'll just look at these screens and imagine the thrill of ripping those skies apart.
