Xbox 360 - Image 1Phil Spencer of Microsoft is of the opinion that they don't need a new Xbox 360 model - at least not right now. Talking to Develop in an interview, the Microsoft Game Studios' exec said that they'll wait it out.

Do we need to sell a new console at some point?" he asked. "I don't think we need to right now. We'll wait until our experiences are at the right point, like we have done with the Natal camera. We'll wait until everyone is ready for it from a software perspective."

He also agreed with VP Don Mattrick of the Xbox division when he said that the Natal is essentially a next-generation console. "I see [Natal] as like the launch of the Xbox 360 back in 2005 -- there will be a launch portfolio of games to support it."

Spencer is also of the opinion that upping hardware will not be enough for the next-gen consoles. "In terms of putting more hardware on the market, what else can we do? Put more memory in it? I don't think that's enough."

And the Article wasn't to clear, headline said "New Xbox console" but article itself made it sound like a new version of a 360 like a slim. But from the sound of it I guess they're referring to a new generation system. And he's pretty much right but at the same time not so much. The 360 itself needs improvement. Needs a Blu-Ray drive and a tune up to fix the red ring issues for a start. Its sad that they're looking at Natal as the "new system" though. Never a huge fan of motion control (despite my early adoption of my Wii). Sony is in the better position to sit on the same system they're the most future ready. And Nintendo will be the only company to upgrade in the near future to a new platform since they've left plenty of room to improve.

That'll be the selling point right there. Sony : the future is now

Nintendo : We've got the new stuff

Microsoft : *crickets playing Natal*

Natal doesn't really interest me.. It seems like it'll be scripted movement and stuff (Kind of what bothered me about the Wii).. and it just seems too annoying to play.. I AM pretty excited about the 3D PS3 thing though. Who knows, maybe Natal will be amazing :X

Have had a 360 for 2+ years now and just brought a PS3 slim, Can't say I'm really interested in motion control as a gaming platform, If I was I would have brought the Wii, I just hope that the 360 games getting developed for it wont all start needing natal features cause I'm not dishing out more money for another Xbox 360 just to play games I like. I think the PS3 nailed it with casual motion control. Call me old school but I'm the type of gamer who likes to ly back on the couch moving as little as possible in the dark fiddling around with a controller. Anyways PS3 will keep me busy for a while even if natal is the future for Xbox 360.

MS say natal and digital content was their plan from the start but then why only release a pro model of the 360 at launch with only a 20gb HDD and no mention of a motion control since laun ch. If it was part of their plan they sure are milking the consumers.

I for one am not going to pay a ridiculous amount for a MS HDD that is extremely overpriced just for 120gbs.

I only have 4gbs left on my current 20gb HDD and am trying to use it wisely.
