Peter Travers: Halo movie "not happening"

If you've been waiting for the Halo movie this whole time, you might find this news disappointing. After being "on hold" for years, it seems that whatever is holding the whole thing together is finally loosening its grip.

Travers Tweet - Image 1

Our info comes straight out of the Peter Travers' Twitter post, where the famed movie critic shares his info with our tipster. It's been a few weeks since the Tweet, and Microsoft maintained later that the movie is still on hold.

We've yet to see real progress on the Halo movie, which gives me the inclination to take Travers' word over Microsoft's. How I'd love to be wrong though. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for this one.

Thanks for the tip Matt!

Old?

It says not happening from jackson and blomkamp, but what happened to Speilberg's interest in the film? It seems like this news is a little outdated, because it seems there has been a little progress on this project; hopefully one day seeing the light of day.

Not old

Peter replied to me with that tweet about a week ago, when he met up with Neill and Peter Jackson to talk about "District 9." That's pretty damn recent.

Jackson and Blomkamp don't wanna do halo anymore, but what happened to Speilberg and Beatsie? Were they not negotiating with the studios to bring "The Fall of Reach" script to the big screen? If games like bloodrayne, Max Payne, etc etc can get a movie rendition, shouldn't one of the biggest house hold names for entertainment get a shot for the big screen? Xbox fanboy or not, Halo has made a huge impact on gaming and it deserves it's chance on the big screen.

ya I don't get the point of this "news"

Didn't everyone already know Jackson and Blomkamp are not doing Halo any longer? They did District 9 instead (which is awesome BTW). Jackson/Blomkamp aren't doing it anymore, that's not to say no one ever will

Master Chief warped to Developmental Hell in the Halo 3 ending.

Call me.....when you need me.

Good

Aah wonderful news, not that I really care, but Halo sucks badly enough, so why to make a movie about it?
