Peter Jackson's Halo movie switcheroos: animated or interactive?

Maybe the movie would be both animated and interactive, as NeoGAF Forum contributors speculate. Although there was not much revealed about the Halo movie that Bungie and critically-acclaimed movie maker Peter Jackson made known a long time ago, it appears people assumed that the movie was probably going to be animated when it debuts 2008.

But a recent update to the interview by GameSpy with Microsoft Game Studios' Shane Kim identified the game as a collaborative interactive piece, and not the animated stance insinuated by GameSpy before the correction was made. And that's not all: it could be that the "movie" will turn into not just one piece, but a series. Kim stated in the interview:

Bungie is working directly with Peter Jackson on the Halo interactive series, and Bungie will definitely be involved, and continue to be involved on Halo. ... I'm not sure about the specifics. They'll be done with Halo 3 this year, but we haven't announced any dates on the Halo 3 series.

So that makes it an interactive series based off on Halo 3. Whether it's going to be story based on the events before, after, or during Halo 3 is still an unanswered question, though it was mentioned in IMDb to have taken the original story of Halo: Combat Evolved. Shane stated earlier in the interview that Microsoft was giving them some breathing room to call the shots. Kim's answer to GameSpy's question asking if Bungie was going to tailor the storyline went a little like this:

But like any creative entity, I know that Bungie has other stories that they want to tell. It's a tricky situation for them. They have a lot of people that are obviously very passionate about Halo, and they also have some people that are interested in telling other stories and doing new things. That's part of the studio process, where they have to figure out what they want to do, and we have to support them on our side as a publisher.

Well, thanks to the "not sure" bit, we know that everything stated at this point in time is not etched in stone. But it does open a lot of out-of-this-world-suggestions from the many fans of the franchise.

» I'm not sure I understand this

So this is about a new Halo based interactive series. Meaning this doesn't have to do with the Halo movie but has to do with the rumored project Bungie is working on with Peter Jackson. Sounds interesting but what about the movie! I read the script at latinreviews.com and it sounds awesome.

» It's interactive

Animated has already been confirmed as a mistake on GameSpy's part, Kim never said it

Just take anything Kim says about Bungie with a grain of salt, he tends to screw it up. Obviously being the head of the Xbox Games Division Kim knows some stuff, but unless it comes from Bungie don't take it too seriously

» Thats what I was saying in my first post!

There are to different projects. This is the rumored team game project between bungie and Peter Jackson that takes place in the Halo universe. This has nothing to do with the Halo movie!!
