Pegatron Technology to manufacture Xbox 360 Blu-ray?

Rumors pertaining to the existence (or planned existence) of Blu-ray equipped Xbox 360 consoles have already been squished time and again, but it seems as if the rumor can't be killed that easily.

So what's new with the Blu-ray Xbox 360 grapevine this time? Apparently, Asus subsidiary Pegatron Technology is now swamped with orders from Microsoft to create Xbox 360 units with Blu-ray built in.

Now, combine this with reports of Lite-On manufacturing Blu-ray drives for Microsoft's console, and we have a possibility of eventually seeing this rumor come to life.

Microsoft has repeatedly denied this particular tidbit, of course, but we're already used to seeing rumors getting denied left and right, only to seem them come into fruition in the end (PSP-2000, anyone?).

Our take on it? Let's just wait and see what will actually happen in the months to come. If it does happen, however, it may not be a very profitable move on Microsoft's part, according to analysts.
