M$ just made a cheap console with good software... the almighty xbox 360 elite lags just as bad with the regular 360 when bringing up the guide.

My 360 died after 8 months, used my warranty, got a it back from repair, and the spring update killed it. My warranty was over and I had to pay 140 to get it fixed and they gave me a 2 year warranty with the fixed system. Wasn't that bad. I'm sure something like that happened to him....

You believe everything sony says fanboy...ps3 is using as much power as it can, not 20%...even chief ibm engineer who designed the cell chip basically said its not as powerful as people would like to make it out, that's why the latest supercomputer by ibm is being fitted by amd and using cell as co-proc only.

Either he is very unlucky or he doesn't treat them right, and I'm willing to bet it's the latter. I know it's been proven that the 360 has some design flaws, and I can kind of believe three or four breaking, but eight? He isn't giving them enough room for ventilation

There's definately certain things people do that make them overheat more, like put them in an insulated carrying case right after using them for hours, or putting them in the entertainment center with no ventilation. Using the 360 upright is also a bad idea because it blocks some of the cooling vents.

this is all fake stuff. my 360 never failed me. this is just some story from some fantard!!! the ps3 onthe other hand is a failer. i played the demo unit in the game store and it froze on me. and my friend said that the ps3 gets a red light too!!!! stupid ideiots

unlucky having 8 of them die, my first one did the 3 red rings less than a week ago but i just took the unit back to game, they checked it was 3 red lights and replaced it straight away. On the point of people saying that anyone who has a 360 that fails must be maltreating them, my 360 sits horizontally on a shelf on its own with approx 30 cm of air space above it and 1/2 meter of air space around it. If it was overheating then i have no idea how the hell it did it with all that space, so im inclined to believe that m$ sold me a piece of hardware that didnt do the job. The 360 has the best games which is the main reason im keeping the new one and not selling it to get a ps3 (although i will buy one later in the year). It just seems to me that m$ need to admit they released hardware which is likely to malfunction and offer a free replacement unit for any unmodified units that go wrong, non of this $140 crap i keep seeing mentioned :@

I see some of you guys writing "I can understand 3 or 4 but eight is too much" WTF 3 or 4 is not acceptable either, I mean the damn thing cost 400 dollars and it's more sensitive than a middleaged woman. Mine gave me the ring of death having just turned it on for the first time that day. Mind you this happened two days after purchase. It had played great the day before and the next day when I go to play some Gears, the damn thing clunks out on me. Explain that one if you will. My PS3 on the other hand has never even frozen up on me or any of my other consoles for that matter. I have every Nintendo console ever made except for the Wii which I'll be getting this Christmas, and none of them have ever quit on me I also have a PS1 PS2 PSP and XBOX and they all work fine. The 360 was rushed to beat Sony out the gate and it shows. I'm no fan boy as you can tell by the consoles I own but the fact is that the 360 was poorly manufactured. Plain and simple.

Personally i hope that Microsoft fixes this problem....you wanna know why? Without any competition developers wont be pressured to make good games and we wouldnt be as happy as we would be right now when sony, nintendo or microsoft isnt out there trying to give us their best shot at making a great console. This console war is futile. no one really wins in the end. I would rather have all of us gamers be united in telling sony, nintendo and microsoft what we want and getting it in the end cause they really have no choice. Sure im a Sony fanboy, but im still a true gamer at heart and i appreciate the different types of enjoyment that these consoles offer us. Its just a matter of preference and its all there is to it. Yes, three or four defective units is still completely unacceptable, but I said it's BELIEVABLE (and even four is pushing it). Eight is not, unless it's user error. Eight defective units just doesn't happen



Like your PS3 has never had any problems, neither have either of my 360s. I had a launch Premium up until the release of the Elite that froze on me three times in Oblivion (and it was a known problem and fixed with an update) and the Elite I traded up to has had no issues so far. I even played Dead Rising, the game known to crash 360s, for 14 hours straight to get the seven day survivor Achievement on my Elite and nothing happened. I also just recently left it on over night for a glitch in Superman (for an Achievement again, lol) and again, nothing happened.



I'm not going to deny that the PS3 seems to be built much better than the 360, because it does, and I'm not going to deny that the 360 definitely has some design flaws, because it definitely does. But for the record, both my brother's and my PS2s broke, and his second one broke. Two gave the cannot read disc error and the other just stopped turning on.

I have 3 system. No problem here. I use them as normal. I don't baby them at all. So thats 100 percent reliability here.



I have 2 of the machines on my desk and the other in a media cabinet. Its all a matter of how you use the machines and where you locate them.



Ps3 fanboys, dont even say it. You know that ps3 gets hotter and louder than 360 when in a cabinet. I have friends that owns them and complains about their ps3 freezing and being loud even when just watching a movie.



I find that ps3 owners are like apple owners. They stay quiet about their purchase because they dont want the world to know that they just got screwed.

I tried my best to be as unbiased as possible there but as you can probably see I prefer the PS3. And yes I do have one.

I cannot believe how much people put up with the 360 breaking and paying for another other one i mean it was a big deal if i knew someone whose ps1 or n64 broke. It's even at a point when people think its ok!!! if "maybe 3 or 4 do break" if thats the average amount of 360's people go through then i defiantly don't want one. I am all for competition i like what the Wii is doing and the 360 had potential but MS is taking the pi$$ out of its customers and i'm shocked by how loyal some people are and its not like MS need more money. Especially when there all like " its purely about the gameing and we center it around the gamer" its hard to play a game when the console isn't working.

In the end I personally couldn't care less if Sony "win" or "lose" i got a ps3 now i love it, i will love it even more when some of those games come out and there only the Exclusives.

Ever hear of a warranty? All 360s come with a one year I think, you don't pay to replace a broken one. And you can buy the extended for like $50, so if it happens after one year you don't pay.

I have become somewhat of an Xbox fanboy over the past year and its not thanks to the systems reliability. The facts are that XBox 360's are poorly made and because of this liable to malfunction easily and even erratically. Personally, my XBox is a launch system and still works, but I do not play it much ever since Oblivion so I do not know whether you can count me in the lot. A good friend of mine's XBox died and hes the type of tech guru who you do not expect something like that to happen to. The systems breaking down have nothing to do with the person who owns them because people who have indeed taken care of their XBox 360's still report the 3 red light problem. I don't take the best care of mine, even when I played Gears and I can only remember one incident when I was playing COD 3 when my Xbox froze. Staying on the topic, its obvious that computers have already surpassed the next gen consoles and also that PS3 is better made. But, since the games on Xbox are original and daring not to mention amazing, its far superior to otehr consoles. Both sony and nintendo are only using new wrapping paper for the same present, how many times can you play a stupid Japanese RPG before you get bored I loved them at first but now I like new stuff like Oblivion and Fable. Also, how many times can you see Snake or Mario before you wretch. I just want a system that makes new interesting games. XBox does that, I only wish they made their consoles better. Sony, nintendo prove me wrong and get of Mario's Dic*

I went through 3 original Playstations(FF VII killed two of them) and Two PS2 (Disk Read Error!)and am on my second XBOX360(RING of Death). Yet my SNES still works fine. My NES works with some spitshine and tuning. MY PC with emulators runs like a dream. Chuck Norris is my dad.

Before you make yourself look like even more of a fool. You cannot tell me anyone out there can't afford the $50 extended warranty if they can afford the $400 console in the first place. That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard, and whoever out there wouldn't buy the extended warranty on a 360 or PS3 should never have children .



And I like how you throw in a bunch of things that either a. some people don't need or b. don't cost money at all. Wireless internet is still garbage, and you only need the wifi adapter if you were one of the chumps who fell for it. I pay $50 monthly for wired cable and it sucks, I can't imagine how crappy wireless DSL is (actually I can, I have a few friends who have it and they get disconnected three times a day. Wireless internet ftw!)



And about the controller and batteries, you do know the $400 package comes with the wireless controller, right? A wireless controller that never drops the connection. And the play and charge kit for $15 comes with a rechargeable battery pack, no need to keep replacing batteries (unless you somehow can't afford the $15 play and charge kit either)



Don't even get me started on the whole "Sony is passionate and cares about their customers" thing. That is the biggest load I have ever heard, but I just won't get into it. MS has been up until now losing money on every console sold BTW, and one look at XBL (which destroys PSN and is easily worth the money) shows they actually do care about their customers.



Since I feel like being nice (even though people like you give gamers, and especially PlayStation fans, a bad name) I'll tell you what happens when your 360 dies. If it's under warranty, you call 18004MYXBOX and give them your address. They ship out a box which usually arrives in two to five days depending on where you live. Once you get that you put the 360 in the box (just the unit itself, not the hard drive as well) and it arrives to MS within another two to five days. If they can figure out exactly what's wrong with your console they do fix it and send it back. If they can't, they send you a new one.

Oh sorry just had to put this in the PS3 is not a supercomputer it is a games console. If anything an i know your not going to want to hear this the 360 is closer to a super computer. Also point to note when trying to run the unreal 3 engine it uses 38.2598% of its power not to metion when they ran the demo on it. Also please remember that good looking games should come out on the ps3 looking amaizing they have had years to get it right and they still havent. More games developers have moved to microsoft and nintendo during the dellays that the PS3 had than any other. As for MGS 4 i give it a 11 monts before it hits Xbox 360 thats after launch. Oh and another thing currently i am building high spec pcs with amaizing rendering times and all of the customers i have would rather wait for a HD DVD drive than put a blu-ray drive in to the new machines. The fact that you also forget is that very soon the movie companies are going to have to allow HD movie downloads that can be burned to disc then it wont matter what format you have and from what alot of high profile people are telling me in the uk that will be HD DVD.

I would have 100 broken xboxes the fact that any publisher who does cross platform is using a 360 to display there video must mean somthing. The game line up is huge i hope sony do go belly up at least then the format war should hopefully end. Wii and 360 got it right there is no need to go blue ray right now. Even after DVD came out most of the games for the last 10 years have been on CDS for the pc.



Fact it is easier to write a game for an xbox than for a ps3. You can produce a game for an xbox and a pc at the same time. If i want to play a game 2 player i can put someone on my pc and someone on my xbox.
