360Four hundred dollars for an Xbox 360 is not exactly cheap. So as much as possible, I'm sure most of you would like to keep your consoles as new-looking as possible, taking care not to scratch them. So don't you just hate it when the 360 gets scratched when you open it up? Hydra shares a way to open your console without leaving any mark on it. All you'd need is a C or DVD disc spindle tub.

Here goes...

STEP 1

1

Take the cover of the spindle tub and cut a small piece of from the side of it. Put the cut piece over the console (as shown above). Mark out where the holes are.

STEP 2

2

Cut the piece into a key like the one shown in the picture. The tabs would need to be 1cm. long.

STEP 3

Repeat the above steps to the other side and you'll get two opening keys that look like these:

3

STEP 4

4

Open the front of your console in the normal way. Place a bit of paper inside the case to keep the front a bit open. Insert the key you made, push with a bit of force and you would hear a clicking sound indicating that the case has opened. Do the same for the other side and...

opened 360

VOILA! You now have a open, unmarked Xbox 360.

Yeah, you still need to void your warranty label. I'm trying to find a source to buy warranty labels from (silver labels with checker print when voided, that I could print Microsoft on myself), but no such luck so far.

A paper printout template for these things would be sweet, if someone wants ot make one.

» Warranty Sticker

Well, with my previous experiences with warranty stickers, i would normally just use a hardryer and slowly peel it off and replace it when i am done, but since it is on the inside, just play Oblivion for 5 hours and let the xbox get hot for you!

» Warranty Sticker

Yep warranty sticker can be easily removed by a hair dryer.

» hair grip

just use an hair grip, that also leaves no marks, as it's coated with plastic.

» Warranty sticker

Does anyone else have any experience or tips on removing the warranty stickers in one piece? If you could get it off without damaging it, just gluing it back on if the xbox ever needed service would be fine (I'd think all they check is to make sure it's intact).

» wtf?

@ #13:

wtf are you talking about? how does opening the case automatically promote piracy? plenty of people use this to paint their cases, cut windows, install lights, etc. Modding does not equal piracy...
