Nyko Intercooler 360 achieves record sales |
Ó

We've reported about the Nyko Xbox 360 Intercooler last march, and the comments went sort of like this: "Is it noisy? Should I get one? Is this a gimmick?" Well, people over at the UK seem to want it a lot, as Nyko's Xbox cooling accessory has achieved record-breaking sales, following its launch there last August.
Stuart Perriam, Business Development Director of NykoÂ’s European distributor Pinpoint Consumer Electronics, had this to say about the odd-looking accessory that hooks to the back of your 360:
"The Intercooler is an excellent example of a product borne through listening to the needs of consumers. The immense success that the Intercooler 360 has experienced to date demonstrates there is a need for a product which extends game play and helps protect the console from the inner heat generated from long gaming sessions"
What's nice about the Intercooler 360 is despite of it being a purely functional accessory designed to suck the heat out of your Xbox like a blood starved vampire, it really looks like it's part of the Xbox. Perhaps this attention to aesthetic integration is what's making Nyko's cooler fly off of the shelves. You have to admit you'd want to get one just to make your friends go: "Wtf is that?"

I think it has more to do with the extremely affordable price. They could've gotten away with selling it for alot more than 19.99. At that price point, it's a very affordable investment.
"The Intercooler is an excellent example of a product borne through listening to the needs of consumers."
should be: The Intercooler is an excellent example of a product borne through the FEAR of consumers.
anyway, it hasnt been too long and already the fans on my intercooler sound like they're about to give out
Hardly use my xbox, the intercooler is loud.
I bought one, thought it was a great purchase.. Now all it does is produce the red ring of death when its plugged in, or cause the powersupply light to go red and shut off after a few minutes of play.
Having tried all the cooling devices out there on my 360 I can easily believe the Intercooler is outselling all the others because it actually does what it says "it stops it overheating" (the MadCatz fanstand sucks or should that be blows, either way it's a joke!) Anyway I've seen a way better one from a company called Gamexpert the 'Cooler King' - it's fully loaded and is what the 360 should have looked like round the back!!! - check it out http://www.pinpointce.co.uk/xbox360-cooler-king.asp
Now all I need to know is where can I get one ?????
Why should anyone have to pay to rectify an inherent design fault with Microsoft's console?
