No need to pay for XBL on Vista? |
Ó

Microsoft's deployment of Xbox Live via Windows Vista obviously faces the problem that PC Gamers are used to, and are mostly expecting, that multiplayer online gaming is something that is free. Charging PC Gamers to play multiplayer games will be something of a step backwards for the company, and according to Shane Kim, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Microsoft is aware of this.
Speaking with 1UP at the DICE Summit, Kim addressed these possible XBL roadblocks by saying:
Not all customers have to pay for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 [Silver and Gold], in the same way you're going to have a similar approach when we bring Live over to Windows. Those details are going to be announced pretty shortly. We have big value offering to customers because we can create an integrated Live experience across platforms
...We do recognize that, unlike the Xbox 360 environment, there's existing competition in the PC online space. So we have to take that into account as we think about how we're going to structure our services, what they'll pay for and what they won't.

Maybe they'll announce that XBL is becoming free? But I doubt it
So much for getting Vista. That's bull...
imagine how many people would buy 360s
it'd be nice, but it's not gonna happen, although another article stated that microsoft is making a profit on the 360's finally, it could be a possibility instead of a price cut...
What are you ranting and raving about?
XBL is Free on Vista. Though there might be a bit of a difference if you do have an xbox live account and already have a gold account. :-p
Probably just free for PC games. Now, if when you bought vista you got a free live account you can use on both PC and 360....well, then I would actually think about buying vista...
It would be stupid for them to charge for the Live service on Vista.
Unless Microsoft hosted their own dedicated game servers across the country, then it wouldn't even be worth 10 bucks a year for Xbox Live.
There isnt anything on Xbox Live that cant be easily accessed for free on a PC. So its a good move by microsoft making it free for PC users, then again, if you purchased Vista, thats one expensive purchase right there.
can't they just make live free only the multiplayer part i don care about movies and demo's, just let me play multiplayer free like sony. im going to ps3 as soon as it has more games so atleast multiplayer is FREE! If they give live connection through a vista pc im all happy!
everybody wants something free!!! free this free that well you know that saying, you get what you pay for, it's true. i have no problem paying for xbl, well probably because i have a full time job and dont rely on money from my parents. so stop crying that its not free i mean its got gears for crying out loud.
Nintendo and Sony saying they will get there on line system on par with live and them actually doing it is another thing.
If they can pull it off and keep it free then MS will more than likely follow suit and if not reduce the price but this is all just piss and wind till Nintendo and MS actually produce a working system.
