No More Waiting for the Portable Xbox |
Ó
Dave has finished building his own portable Xbox which took 60 hours to finish. The specs of this "new handheld" include a 5-inch LCD screen from a PlayStation One (ironic?), a 60GB laptop hard drive, a custom vacuum formed case, an earphone jack, a Polymer Li-ion Battery Module and an external CD-rom drive (this one's to follow).
The PSone screen had to be modified to be perfect for this portable Xbox. For the hard drive of this portable device, a 60GB seagate laptop drive was used. The Polymer Li-Ion Battery Module has a 14.8v 11Ah with PCB or 12A limit. Either this battery or an AC adapter can be used to power this portable Xbox.
We all know this isn't Microsoft's handheld version of its consoles, still it's quite nice to imagine that one day - someday soon, perhaps - there's going to be a Microsoft-made portable Xbox in the market. But for now, this will have to do.
