Next Splinter Cell To Be 360 Exlcusive

The battle over exclusives rages on and Microsoft fired another salvo yesterday afternoon in sunny Barcelona when Peter Moore announced that the next iteration of Ubisoft's super successful uber-spy franchise, Splinter Cell, would be an Xbox 360 exclusive. And yeah, by next iteration, we mean the one after Splinter Cell: Double Agent, due out in just under a month. Although there's no definitive word, we've a feeling the next game will be called Splinter Cell: Conviction, thanks to highly publicized Ubisoft information leak earlier this month.

The development makes sense considering Splinter Cell was essentially born on the Xbox platform and Xbox fans have been good to Ubisoft and Splinter Cell especially over the years. To reiterate the exclusive means that the game won't be appearing on any other platforms, including the Wii and even the PS2. That said, one can't help but wonder if a scenario involving large sums of money in shiny metal briefcases and men with dark suits and sunglasses meeting in abandoned warehouses was involved. It also bears mentioning that it's possible the game will still appear on the PlayStation 3 and other platforms at some time in the future.

As far as this humble writer knows this marks the very first time a Splinter Cell game as appeared as an exclusive on any non-handheld platform. Interesting times indeed.

its not enought that microsoft own 90% of the computer market and its a multi-billion dollar company making bill gates the riches man in the world yet again with 50 billion dollars. Now they want to take over the Entertainment market with windows vista including game consoles. Microsoft needs to be stop they want to crush its competitors from SONY all the way to mac computers. This is why I buy everything from my mac notebook to my playstation and nintendo consoles. When the playstation 3 comes out and the Wii you can bet your ass that i'm buying does consoles. I will never let microsoft get my money.

Because they have bottomless pockets, they can basically get any game they want, and take it away from any other console they want. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they coaxed even Kojima into releasing MGS4 for 360. It'd cost a lot of money, but everyone has their price...

Guy above me, go tell someone who cares. Do you even like the crap you buy? Or do you just want to "fight the power"? If there was a PC/360 game you'd really like to have, or even a few of them, would you still not buy a PC/360 just because you hate Microsoft? That's sad if it's true.

Besides, like you said, Microsoft has billions of dollars, I highly doubt they care if they don't get YOUR money. Have fun depriving yourself of some great games, I'll be enjoying them to their fullest :)

Cool...Hopefully we will see something as revolutionary as the first splinter cell....when they had to develop with other consoles in mind the games turned out even less impressive then the first one....

I dunno, exclusive titles are needed if we are ever to see the true differences in the machines...just as long as developers really focus on the machine. All i'm worried about it that splinter cell is old and that they won't be able to keep the level of quality up (which I was dissapointed with in the last two...other then MP)

So far the graphics are identical to Chaos Theory. No improvement whatsoever.

I saw the screenshots, Trailors, gameplay videos.

Honestly doesnt anyone think this is better then Chaos Theory.

It seems to be using the same engine and graphics but new levels and missions.

When I play SC:CT on my projection in 1080p. Its amazing. To the point where playing on my 20" seems like punishment even if it looks sharper.

Compare the graphics of Chaos Theory and tell me double agent is such a step over the old that its in its own generation.

This is like SC 3.5. Its not exactly such an improvement that it could be called the 4th generation Splinter Cell game and its not soo old that its still in the 3rd Generation.

Ubisoft taking the exclusive route? Probably for this Splinter Cell game but not the next one.

As always its not exclusive if its on the PC as well. If this game comes out on the PC, ill get it, but otherwise, the controller sucks for this game anyway.

Never thought I'd find someone dumb enough to think KB/M is better than controller in SC... wow. First time for everything huh? Have you even played it on console? No sane person can honestly say PC version is better

I don`t feel sad SC don`t come to PS3.SC has repetative gameplay,lame enemy AI and boring storyline.MGS is far more superior than SC.That`s why I will get PS3.
