New Xbox 360 elite bundle coming next month, wireless adaptor to have US$ 100 price tag? |
Ó

Ars Techinca's mole has one hell of a track record. For one, he (or she) correctly predicted the price cuts that the PS3 and Xbox 360 just got. Now the mole has some dirt on what Microsoft has planned for the holidays.
According to the mole, there will be a new Xbox 360 bundle for the holidays. Starting in the middle of October, Microsoft will roll out an Elite bundle that comes with copies of both Pure and Lego Batman for US$ 300.
There's also something about the new 802.11n adaptor that Microsoft confirmed recently. As a lot of you QJ readers have guessed, the mole says that Microsoft will be tagging this baby with a US$ 100 price tag upon release. Expensive, but apparently the old 802.11g adaptor will be getting its price slashed to US$ 79.99.
Mark all of these as rumors for now, but from what the mole's track record tells us, it's only a matter of time until Microsoft confirms.

i was hoping for a bigger price drop on the b/g adapter...
$80 is still way too much for what it is.
bastards
If you buy the adapter(NEW ONE). Yet Doesn't play Blu-ray
I predict PS3 Blows 360 away this holiday season.
M$ at its finest.
Kanye West (PS3) : that's cool and im happy for you... but ps3 is one of the best systems in the world...one of the best systems in the world. Taylor Swift(360): "sheds a tear"
shouldnt the PS3 be beyonce?
but really tho, im sure MS is still going to trick so many ignorant parents into buying the new 360 price....and theyll see this and be like:
"ohh what the hell, lets just get the damn thing so this little b****rd will shut up"
a $50 dollar mail in rebate if you purchase your Elite between now and October 5. I feel sorry for those who went out and purchased an Elite right away. It wasn't even that long since the price drop. Microsoft really screwed the people who bought it right after the price drop since now they can't even claim any price Guarantee since it doesn't cover Mail In Rebates. Also kind of sucks for those that bought Pros since they could have gotten the Elite for the same price after Mail In Rebate though if they don't like mail in rebates then more power to them. Link to rebate page
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/360eliterebate/default.htm
it's not even advertised a lot as of now. You also need a password to get the rebate which is on the link I told you which is also pretty odd.
it's true... the ps3 is a better value, it has more stuff. the 360 is (was?) a lot cheaper, but it's nowhere up to par with the ps3. hardwaretalking , not software
cheaper if you can handle the hell Mail In Rebates make you go through. Instructions in previous post.
Mail In rebates are somewhat fishy. Combining the fact that MS has a mail in rebate and that there will be a new bundle coming next month and that it ends pratically at the start of next month. The new bundle might have better specifications or something compared to the one know at the same 299 price. So if you plan on using the MIR think carefully like will you regret it if something better came out later. If you are that type of person MIR doesn't have to be postmarked until November 20 so but has to be bought before October 5 so as a suggestion buy the console before October 5 wait until November 20 before playing your brand new console even though it is kinda hard to do and it is tempting to open it and play with it. If by November 19 to be safe MS hasn't announced anything then send out the MIR. Be funny if you get screwed and they announce it at the end of November though that doesn't seem to be the case as it says coming next month which is October at some time.
Don't cut out UPC code until you send out MIR if using my method or else you can't return if a bundle is announced that you like.
doesn't like to save money or just hates me.
Woooooooo I made an enemy on the interwebs. I'm so l33t.
to include Lego Batman and Pure so if you think those 2 games are worth 50 dollars then I suggest you wait. If not go and buy now though this is only a rumor.
even with that 50 dollar mail in rebate, it still isn't a good deal to buy it over a ps3 buddy, you have that blu ray player, wifi built in, and a wireless controller with a built in battery, if you add all that up to a 360 (of course no blu ray player), it would be 120 dollars more than the ps3 with everything already in it, and if I take into account the price cut of the wifi adapter and that rebate you keep mentioning about its still 40 dollars more, oh and not to mention full access to online gaming for free assuming you have a broadband connection of course.
i'm not going to argue that the ps3 isn't worth the price (or a better value), as it obviously is.
anyone that can make use of a bluray player, and cares about one already has a ps3 or a standalone.
not everyone cares about wifi (i despise it for everything but things that actually need to be mobile)...
and IMO a built-in rechargeable battery is a negative, not a positive. i really like changing battery packs during gaming marathons... not having to have an entire extra controller.
with all that said, there will always be the ignorant people that will go out and buy a ps3 for no other reason than it is a playstation.
to me this is far worse than buying a lesser value laden product out of ignorance. blindly buying something that has an inherent value over something else without knowing it, is just... well wrong.
the rest of the world doesnt get that rebate so i think the 360 is not on par with the ps3
well, I can see how everything is of opinion of course, your opinion as well as mine is right to us, I'm not denying that the 360 is a good system cause it is huge library of good games (Loved Lost Odyssey), I'm just talking about value, while people who just blindly buy ps3's are stupid because of the brand and not because of value, but then again the same can be said about the other side, oh and I'd just like to say off the record you don't have to answer and i'm not trying to make an argument off of this, why wouldn't you want wifi? not having to purchase another ethernet cable is nice and you can have your system anywhere and still get internet access (of course not as fast as ethernet but better than dial up), and the controller has a built in battery but comes with a mini usb cable that can charge while you play, similar to the play and charge kit, and thats all included with no extra cost, and if you need a longer cable, the mini usb cables are dirt cheap now a days not going to cost 20 dollars for one, or even have to buy extra batteries which can add up real quick.
