New Xbox 360 802.11n adapter coming? |
Ó
Looks like there's something interesting tucked into the promotional flier of the Italian version of the Gears of War 2 Game of the Year Edition. Inserted in the flier are pictures of what appears to be a new Xbox 360 802.11n Wi-Fi adapter.
There was no other information regarding it, but it looks like you can soon have an option between the original 802.11/a/b/h and 802.11 adapter. Microsoft isn't officially talking about this yet, so for now, this goes under the Rumor category.

Is there such a thing as 802.11h ? I'll have to google it. Oh an on the preview text from the main page it says 802.11m
who would have thought that some people might wanna play wireless? how much will this 1 cost? $75...or is that just the price of the picture that u get with gow2
I'm sureG was mean to be typed rather than H. And obviously N not M
this is mainly to allow HD streaming from the new Zune. hopefully the good ole G version will drop in price after this... would be nice to have a custom made adapter instead of using my router... i just refuse to pay that much for an adapter.
Who actually need 802.11n? the G standard is 54 Mbits fast, that's more than enough. (Unless you have a seriously fast internet connection.)
54mbit throughput never hits 54mbit on wireless. I have 50mbit internet, I would never use wireless G.
what makes you think a wireless N is going to cost less. If anything the b/g/a will drop in price and N will take its price point or N is going to be somewhere between 125-150 imo
Just another thing for Micro$oft to rip us off with.... Don;t get me wrong, I love my Xbox, but the price of the wireless adaptor is just sickening!!
the zune hd only supports b/g
from gizmodo: "If you want to stream 1080p TV shows and movies from the Zune/video store this fall, your 360 needs to be hard wired to your router, or on an 802.11n network. Knowing this, Microsoft is readying an official 802.11n adapter." the article also states that the zune only supports b/g... so it's a bit confusing as to why.
You must have never used N in your life. Try transferring files from one computer to another using a G connection, then try on an N connection.
