Namco Bandai milks SoulCalibur IV: new XBL content found costly |
Ó
SoulCalibur IV is in so much demand these days, and we have the numbers to prove it. Just last week, a little after the release, Namco Bandai's cross-platformer (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) topped the worldwide software charts with 382, 716 copies sold, thereby putting their sales squarely over two million.Well, it seems like Namco Bandai sees the opportunity, and they fully intend to milk the cow while it's still hot. More new content has arrived on the Xbox Live Marketplace (yay!), but be warned: it doesn't come cheap (boo!)
That's right. In a rather obvious attempt of fleecing the fans, the new content will cost you 200 MS Points. Is it worth the buck, you ask? Well... it does measure to 108KB in size, and so therefore means that it's most probably already included in the disk. In fact, it's supposedly only some of the Limited Edition Content.
Specifically, what the pack includes would be items for the custom character creation mode. This is for you, obviously, to create your own characters, from maids to other whatnots. How much can your 200 MS Points give you? Only five female items, if you're looking for a more precise canvass.
Are you gonna bite the bait?

If it's that much for only five pieces of clothing than it better be string bikinis or something... lol
In very few cases do you find something that's actually NEW; most publishers seem keen to sell you a "key" that lets you use something you ALREADY PAID FOR when you bought the disc. It's a scam.
What's the big deal? It's only 200 MS points. There are people who use MS points to get theme and gamer pics that are more useless than these adds on.
im glad I can DL the LE content, thats all i wanted from the LE, so not having to pay $20 more bucks for stuff i dont want is worth it to me. I love the character creation
i dont see it....
They released the music from SC1 as a pack for 1200 points! That's just wrong when you consider they only released SC1 on Live Arcade a few weeks back for 800 points, so why should I pay more for it when it's technically already on my machine?
Fans are surely being taken to the cleaners on this one. Capcom gave away, for free, all the keys to the bonus outfits in Dead Rising. They were pretty cool, but I surely would have felt ripped off if I'd had to pay for them.
Probably a good thing I have no intention of playing Soul Caliber IV. My completionistic tendencies would eat at me to blow my money on this.
FreePlay: You have to realize that even though it is on the disc that does not make it yours. Actually nothing on the disc is yours. You are paying for the right to use the software on it. Namco disabling some parts of it and selling a "key" to enable is in no way a scam. Its a smart business move. While yes it costs us the gamers for paying for something that we already "have", you have to also figure that it took time to create that content. Whether or not you think it should have been unlocked from the beginning for free, they have every right to do so.
Guess we now have a new snake oil to watch out for.
Scam!!!!
but forgotten that... totally whakt, man.
