Mistwalker's second console RPG, Lost Odyssey, is being prepped as Microsoft big year-end offering for Xbox 360 owners in Japan, and with noted producer Hironobu Sakaguchi at the helm, you just know it's going to be good. How good? Check out these new details Sakaguchi himself revealed to Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu Xbox 360.
  • Sakaguchi expects the game, which will reportedly be around 40 hours long, to have equal parts games scenes (including battles) and event scenes (including movies)
  • Lost Odyssey will start out with Kaim arriving in a city. Players will then explore the city, get Seth and Yansen to join their party and then head up a mountain (as shown in the demo presented during Microsoft's pre-TGS press conference) to enter the game's first dungeon
  • Kaim won't actually be learning new skills. He recalls them instead (he's been around so long he's forgotten quite a few things). The skills and moves Kaim "recalls" throughout the course of the game will depend on what accessories he has equipped
  • The 1000 Year Dream sequences will have 34 passages in all, each taking around 5 to 10 minutes to read. All of the passages were written by award-winning author Kiyoshi Shigematsu. These sequences will be seen whenever Kaim's memories are triggered by certain key events
  • A book form of the 1000 Year Dream sequences is planned for release, and the book may precede the game's December 6 Japanese release
  • A demo event is coming some time before the game's Japanese release
Lost Odyssey is currently scheduled for a February release in North America and Europe. Keep checking back here for more updates.
