More Halo News - MMO Version May Be Out |
Ó
Despite the all scuttlebutt surrounding Halo 3 and the upcoming movie since E3, the rumored MMO version is apparently not forthcoming. Instead, developer Bungie is putting its efforts into an upcoming PC version of Halo 2 that will require Windows Vista in order to run. This version is being constructed especially for the Window Vista OS, and will include a map editor - so don't look for any cross platform matches between this and the XBox or XBox 360.The upside is, PC gamers will still be able to use their old DirectX 9 compatible graphics card, even though Halo 2 is DirectX 10 enabled.
Regarding the rumored MMO version of Halo 3, a Bungie representative had this to say: "We'd never say 'never' to anything. I can tell you we're not working on those things today though".

I'm sorry, but where do you guys get your information from. This was announced around February or March!
this ***** is not new information, i dont know what hole you guys *****ing crawled out of. usually you give us news late, but holee *****tt. if anyone thinks this is new info, they are *****ing out of it.
actually the quote was from the weekly update last friday. Please stop complaining about late news, if u dont like it leave. I usually read things on this site i havent heard about b4, and theres always complaints about it being really late. Just stop.
Having a map editor doesnt necissarily mean there will be no cross-platform. You could have the X360 download the map from the PC, or, if that doesnt work somehow, you could have the PC server lock out custom maps so you can play cross platform.
Nope, Microsoft has confirmed that there is no interoperability:
Quote:
"Will Halo 2 have any interoperability when it's released for Vista... ?
No, we're just bringing over the Halo 2 experience over to Vista. It will support the online services though, that we're bringing over to Windows Vista."

although this hasbeen known for a long time now, bungie did just release Q and A regarding such a thing so it is news that has been brought back to the "new" news title.. stop complainging, but i do think the poster should have cited that saying where they got it and how recent.. people on here need to cite more often, not just where from but the dates too~
chong chong?
this is VERY old news.
And by the way, PC users don't deserve H2 on their PC. If they want Halo, they can go buy a dmaned Xbox or Xbox 360.
Spoiled idiots.
I love my Xbox 360, but I hate Microsoft; and I think it's fun to watch Microsoft try hard and fail to have people eager for Vista.
Sure, a few people here will claim "BUT I AM EAGER FOR VISTA", but kid; you're not the computer industry. I work in it, and there's simply no buzz around Vista. Not even nearly as much as there was for XP. So now they're starting to make stuff Vista-only to force people to switch.
Every feature of Vista has been done before elsewhere, and has been done better.
