As the old saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention. Such appears to be the case with Wolfe of the Onan's Disciples forums, who decided to mod an Xbox 360 in light of the console's habit of freezing up during a game.

Wolfe, with a little help from a friend, successfully retrofitted the 360 with its own water-cooling system, built from what appears to be bits and pieces of aquarium hoses, and an aerator. The duo also decided that the unit's power supply could use some modding, and gave it a bigger heatsink. Topping off this mod attempt is a new set of blue LEDs for the 360's rings. We probably don't have to remind you that this mod voids the console's warranty.

We've posted a couple of pictures of Wolfe's modded Xbox 360 and power supply here in case you're wondering how it looks. More pictures of the setup's internal working should be available at the modder's post via the source link.

I just dont know

Interesting idea but what a mess. That looks uglier than the stock console. There are tons of water cooled consoles out there. Koolance Exos is the best way to go because it look nice and clean and easy to install. I also think the PSU mod is not needed at all.

my thought exactly...

Shouldn't mounting a good PC CPU fan/heat on top make a huge amount of change already compare to the current design? I still don't understand why they don't simply do that instead of trying to draw air out in a tunnel cover

wow

That's definately the ugliest mod I've seen, but looks like it does the job. The connections don't look very water tight though.

I wonder...

What Microsoft will say when it dies and he sends it back for repair... NeoGreendawg : 2x 3 red LED, 1x 1 red LED (one week ago), 1 power brick not working (out of the box at launch).

microsoft should have

made the elite include a water cooling solution. the elite's price doesnt give it any justice, specially when it overheats, refuse to function and show 3 red lights. now let me suggest a new SKU name "Xbox 360 Elite WCE"
