Midway Games - Image 1Yes, that's right folks. After following up on rumors of a WWII shooter by games publisher Midway a couple of days ago, we finally received official word that Midway is hard at work on the XBox 360 exclusive Call of Duty contender.

Yes, there were rumors that Hour of Victory could also be available for the PC, but this is now a 360-only title. It is due to be released this summer 2007.

The characters stand as they are: a sniper-demolitions expert U.S. Army Ranger, a covert saboteur O.S.S. Agent, and a tough British S.A.S. commando. You can choose any character to fulfill their specific objectives in a mission, each character being able to do their part to accomplish all objectives. Characters can take control of any vehicle on the battlefield and fight their way through highlighted battles throughout the European and African theaters.

Matt Booty, senior VP, worldwide studios, Midway said:

Hour of Victory is an entirely new World War II experience designed exclusively for the Xbox 360 that will place players in a pivotal role during key battles using the gameplay style they choose. Using the powerful Unreal Engine 3.0 weÂ’re able to create exciting, cinematic moments that allow players to feel like a hero, not just another cog in the war machine.

Midway is a leading developer and publisher of games, including Unreal Tournament 3 and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

Another biggie for the 360 only then

This game looks very good and proberly better than COD. The lineup of AAA 360 games for 2007 is getting huge.
