Buoyed by the NPD Group's sales report, which indicated the US$ 1.26 million in Xbox 360 sales and the strong following of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Microsoft has pointed out that the Xbox 360's sales amounted to a total of US$ 4.8 billion, significantly more than Sony or Nintendo.
Furthermore, Microsoft has also claimed that the gap between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is widening. Consider the following:
- NPD data has confirmed that consumers spent more money (the aforementioned US$4.8 billion) on the Xbox 360, far more than either the Nintendo Wii (US$ 3.5 billion) or the Sony PS3 (US$ 2.2 billion).
- More than half of all the games on the NPD's top 20 list for 2007 were on the Xbox 360, including Assassin's Creed and Rock Band
- Halo 3 was the sixth best selling title in December, selling 742,000 units.
- The Xbox Live network service boasts of 10 million customers and growing.
