Microsoft's Don Mattrick confirms new Halo game in the works

It certainly was a big letdown for Xbox 360 fans when they heard Bungie Studios pulled a no show during the recent E3 event. Cheer up, though. Microsoft's head of Xbox business Don Mattrick had some good news to appease Halo fans of their absence during their video gaming event.

In an interview conducted by MTV News last Tuesday, Mattrick confirmed that Bungie was indeed working on a new Halo game for everyone. When pressed regarding the lack of Halo news during Microsoft's recent press conference, he replied that the huge amount of content already released last Monday would not affect gamers even if they did release a few tidbits regarding the new Halo title.

In case you're wondering if Mattrick was referring to their long awaited real-time strategy game Halo Wars or the previously announced Halo project collaboration with Peter Jackson, the answer was surprisingly neither. Apparently an entirely new Halo title is currently in the works and will be revealed when the time is right.

No other details were given when exactly this "right time" will be, but we'll be sure to pick up on any new information as soon as we get it. Drop by again here at QJ.NET for more updates regarding Bungie and its mysterious Halo title.

wen are they gunna stop with this? i mean their pulling a goerge lucas now.... there will allways be a star wars movie,game,comi c, or anything to keep the dough running in and not let the fans forget about it.

they see how badly xbox is going down in sales... their games are average IMO,and theres only a handfull of games that are still some wut remembered that dont define the xbox 360... and of course,m$ last resort to staying alive is to keep making halo games and most lekley be more GoW games also (more then 3).

they cant keep up so they will(of course) make a new system becouse (everyone knows) 360 is a short tearm console with little to offer to make it a long term like sony. :)

Making more Halo games can only be a good thing. They might not be the best games ever made but they are certainly above average! Same with GoW!

How am I a fanboy for not liking MGS4? I own it, completed it and found it disappointing. Over long cut scenes interspersed with average game play and ridiculous loading times.

With regards to Halo, I thought Halo1 at the time for a console FPS was fantastic. Halo2 single player was much the same as the 1st and so disappointed that the gameplay hadn't moved on, however the multiplayer was great! Halo3 felt much the same as the 2nd and so yet again disappointed but still above average game in my opinion.

Calling Apeaggedon a retard was probably a little harsh.

No Bungie isnt making Halo 4 because of the fans nor are they doing it to complete the series, they already finished it with Halo 3.

Everyone misinterpreted the "Finish The Fight" title. It doesn't mean that the Halo series is done , it means that the fight against the Covanent and the Flood is done, not the story. There still is the Forerunners, and no they have been making Halo 4 since the development of Halo 3. There is still so much we know about the Forerunners, but only that they are this super advance alien species.

For MGS4 not meeting some people expectations, I understand the game is awesome, but I think that some of the game had very boring parts, for example the part where you have to follow one of grunts from the Patriots to get to Big Mama, In my opinion Kojima could have done better and those movie scene's were very tiring, which made me feel there wasn't enough gameplay. Which resulted in a very hyped mediocre game. I still think MGS 1 is still better than any other MGS in the series. Everything from the voice acting to the boss fights kept me at the edge of my seat.

If you beg to differ that's your opinion, don't bash mine. I am telling only what I interpreted.

Ok, lets just clarify some facts I found a few of you saying that were incorrect:

- Despite what console you are loyal to, Halo has proven to be an amazing game-series, just as the PS3 has Killzone and the Wii have Super Mario Galaxy.

- Halo Wars is NOT being made by Bungie Studios. It's being made by Ensemble Studios.

- Bungie did NOT back out of this showing, their publisher told them at the last minute that they must not show what they had planned.

- Bungie is in NO way forced to make a HALO game. If so, they would NOT be working on a game right now. They are free of Microsoft's dictatorship yet the continue to make new Halo games. Common sense?

- Ignorance is bliss. If your a Sony or Wii fan, stop trying to bash this game series and the 360. Being a 360 fan myself, I understand that your console's both have amazing qualities.

My fellow 360 fans, don't worry about what other console-fans say. Numbers prove everything. But don't deny the fact that they have good games as well. Be the bigger man, for real.

Bungie is not forced to make a new sequel. Microsoft's doesn't control them anymore. Bungie enjoys making Halo games, a statement which they have made over and over and over again.

But you fired back *****ing at him, saying that not everybody thinks like that. omb.de just gave a generalization for how the public generally views MGS4, not how everyone does. It seems that no matter what a 360 fan says, whether it's positive or negative towards what you like, you'll find some reason to fire back. You take everything so damn literally it's insane. This is a debate, not a *****ing argument. Their are huge differences man. Just enjoy the console wars for how they are. On QJ it feels like someones going to draw first blood any moment.

Just because Bungie is making another Halo game, it doesn't mean it's Halo 4.

Bungie said that Halo games 1-3 are part of ONE story arc. Halo 3 is the END of THAT story arc. Another Halo game doesn't mean Halo 4. It's really not that hard to figure out.

My guess is that Bungie is working on a new Halo game which is part of a NEW story arc within the Halo universe, like they've hinted over and over again.

Hands down, Bungie is a great developer. Just like Epic Games, Bioware, Konami, Capcom, Infinity Ward, and Rockstar to name a few. I personally believe that they will bring to light something seriously amazing, and I'd be willing to place a hefty wager on that being the truth.
