xbox 360 coreA couple of days ago, Microsoft denied claims of an xbox 360 Core system price cut in the UK. The company insisted that their retail partners have the option to adjust the price of the Xbox 360, but it seems that the retailers are singing a different tune. UK retail has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that Microsoft has officially cut the RRP of the Xbox 360 Core from £209.99 (about $397) to £199.99 (about $378) effective today.

UK retailers in the independent, supermarket, and High Street entertainment sectors have started selling Xbox 360 Core system (the lower-spec, hard drive-less system) for £199.99.

A spokesperson for a leading entertainment retailer said, "The Core version has dropped by £10 today - they've issued it directly so it's not been driven by retail."

Gem, the official Xbox 360 distributor in the UK declined to comment, and Microsoft has yet to issue an official statement. Whether the price cut is a Microsoft directive or not, one thing's for sure: UK gamers would now have a good reason to buy a Core system. After all, a price cut is always a sweet thing.

Sweet for them since the nest-gen consoles will always be expensive there.

» HAHA!!!

£10...WOW!!! £10 can hardly buy you a decent pair of socks these days in the Uk. It isnt a great saving at all, and even though i owned one, it doesnt give me any incentive at all into going back and buying one.

if £30+ had been knocked off the price then that would have been a better, but £10?!?! it aint going to fly off the shelves any better
