Stephen Toulouse of Microsoft's XBLA has taken to -- again, the very active social updater today - Twitter to clarify that good ol' MS will NOT be banning those who can't keep their Halo 3 ODSTs in a tight wrap until official release.

I'm watching you!

Yes, he's talking about those who prematurely gets the game. No, he's not talking about pirates. Stephen speaks tweets:

Clarity on the ODST thing. We will not be banning legitimate customers from Xbox Live who play early.

Don't get all too cocky now, thought. There's a footnote to this clarification, one that needs fine reading:

However, if you have Halo ODST achievements and haven't played the game, prepare for a gamerscore reset.

You have been fairly warned.

Microsoft normally ban people for being lucky enough to be able to BUY a game early?

Thats *****ing disgusting! (if true) why do so many people put up with their crap?

» um

i've never been banned for playing games early...

and i've done it quite a few times.

the question i have is how is it even possible to get achievements for a game you've never played...

So its not true.

It does sound ridiculus that they would.

» i like cake :D

i think he meant pirates... copy the game, download, play... no ban...

» oops... not again

how did i miss "he does not speak about pirates" wow... i need vacation

anyways, agree with you above me then.. it's strange that they even thought aabout banning early buyers... as in theory it is the stores' fault, not the buyers, that they can have it sooner... in theory.

» This articlre is a pile of BS.

One of my friend has a modded system, and if he plays a game early, or any pirated game, he gets achievements, and it says he played the game...

I don't know how anyone can get success on a game they do not have. pirtated or legit...

by frank_the_bunny - 2009-08-28 07:58
» No it isn't...

Many people on Xbox 360 mod their gamerscore, and add achievements for games they do not have, which is why it says this in the article.

i'm aware of a profile editor, but the one i've seen only allows editing of existing games on your list...

i didn't see anyway to add games to the list.

» nah not true

MS never bans for playing legit copies early. Toulouse is just mentioning and clarifying it because it's a popular rumor on the net

» um x2

Halo 3 has achieves you can only get thru ODST, such as "get the hidden skull on Heretic". Heretic only comes with ODST. Thus the editors do allow you to unlock the few ODST achieves because they're linked to Halo 3

I'm not sure how to do it, but you can add games and achievements for games you do not have as well, as I've seen my friend do it. He also was the one who got in trouble recently for adding all of the ODST achievements to his profile recently (mattyovers)
