Grand Theft Auto 4 Rockstar - Image 1Last year, there were talks of exclusive episodic Grand Theft Auto 4 (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3) content exclusive only for the Xbox 360 version of the game, which was promptly shot down by Rockstar themselves. However, it looks like we're getting more information related to this tidbit, despite it being tagged as a rumor (for now, at least).

According to website Xbox Family, Microsoft will supposedly give free content to those who pre-ordered the Xbox 360 version of the game. Of course, don't get excited over this piece of news yet, since we haven't received concrete confirmation about the Xbox 360 getting its own exclusive episodic content for Grand Theft Auto 4. But it's still worth looking into, yes?

To those who aren't in the loop about the recent Grand Theft Auto 4 affairs, you may want to know that Take-Two Interactive's Ben Feder announced the following statement in Take-Two's fiscal report: "In fiscal 2009, we'll also be offering additional episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360." Sounds intriguing, yes?

Huh, the link didn't have Rockstar saying anything like that...

It's been confirmed that 360 is getting exclusive content, it wouldn't be 'episodic' content though. I wouldn't be all excited about the pre-order thing cause there's always one person willing to give out a code (such as the skate. bestbuy clothing)

I don't think this will be for free...

I mean, c'mon it's Microsoft, did you ever got something for free?...

(Not a Fanboy comment, just stating the facts...)

Except Undertow, replacement consoles and various contest prizes, right?

by Someone_PR - 2008-02-09 08:20
» well...

Undertow was because for the live failure thing and the lawsuit, the replacement consoles because well.. you know...

But obviously they will give this for free to be the console that sold more GTA games

» Amazing!

Microsoft! Free! AMAZING! HOLY CRAP! I think Mr. Gates is sick. Someone needs to call an ambulance for him. No way would he allow the word free to be used in combination with the word Microsoft if he were healthy.

» yeah

except the load of money he donated to charities every year

» Except the problem with your argument is that

1. Undertow was a compensation for XBL being out of serivce for a couple of weeks. So with XBL being a payed service and all, Undertow wasn't really free.

2. Why would Microsoft charge for replacements when it was their fault in for developing the console the way they did in the first place? Offering free replacements for faulty units is a standard thing which pretty much every company does. Especially when defect rate is a large scale as the 360's.

3. Contests? There's a difference between winning something and getting it for free. There can only be a limited amount of contest winners meaning the content only applies to a very small percentage of users.

» but...

even if they give free content on the 360 won't the same content be free on ps3 anyways? because ive seen a lot of DLC on the ps3 network for games too but almost never on the 360. so even if Msft does give it out for 360 pre-orders then its not even that big a deal since Sony will probably have it free to download anyways.

thats been true up until now, (though guitar hero and rock band generally get updates on the xbox a week before the PS3), Microsoft allegedly paid a hefty sum to get exclusive DLC for GTA4, so we may not see the said content on the PS3 after all...

by Dustball - 2008-02-11 20:10
» Not really true

The PS3 Guitar Hero and Rock Band DLC is released 2 days after on the PS3, not a week. This is because the Playstation Store is updated every Thursday.

You mean the load of money he stole from the millions and billions of Winblows and Sexbox users that he conned worldwide?
