Microsoft teams up with top anime studios for Halo short film collection |
Ó

Halo is going the Matrix route with the announcement of an Animatrix-like animated project called "Halo Legends," a collection of several original anime short films from some heavyweight anime companies.
The compilation will feature a series of short stories that explore different times, themes and characters from the Halo universe. Select episodes of Halo Legends will debut on Xbox Live this fall through a new experience called Halo Waypoint, which will also feature a career system and player rankings tied to both in-game and out-of-game accomplishments related to Halo.
Halo Legends will be produced by Microsoft's 343 Industries. They've also snagged anime luminaries Shinji Aramaki and Mamoru Oshii as creative director. Anime studios involved in the project include Bones Inc., Casio Entertainment Inc., Production I.G, STUDIO4˚C and Toei Animation.

Bones and Production I.G? These shorts are going to look amazing.
I think Halo has been down that road for a while. The first one was great, but both subsequent sequals sucked and were just a cash in. Might as well make anime about it too; do it only to put the tiny little bow on the pile of garbage that started out as a clever idea.
The demo for Halo Wars was fun however.
