Microsoft smashes recent Halo Wars to PC rumor - Image 1

According to a rumor recently in circulation, there's a possibility that Ensemble Studios' Halo Wars RTS game for the Xbox 360 may be heading for the PC platform as well.

This bit of speculation originated from the Angry Pixel game blog, where an MS employee hinted that the company was creating a port for Windows. What's more, Halo Wars on the Xbox 360 and the PC is expected to carry cross-platform play, very much like the Shadowrun (Xbox 360, PC).

Is Halo Wars indeed going to be breaking from its previously announced 360-exclusivity? According to a statement made by an Microsoft rep regarding this matter, that's not the case. Quoting the MS spokesman's exact words:

Halo Wars is being developed from the bottom up for the Xbox 360 and its control scheme to ensure that we deliver a groundbreaking console RTS experience. Given that, we have no plans to develop Halo Wars for Windows Vista at this time.

Speaking of deja vu, some of you guys may remember game producer Chris Rippy from an interview during last year's E3. Much like the MS rep, Rippy had stated straight-out that Ensemble was purely focused on creating the game as a console RTS. We'll let you guys know if we find any further updates regarding this matter.

I hate RTS games.

Couldnt they just make a real Halo game and not waste their time with this? I hate PC gaming because you have to spend hundreds of dollars to keep your computer up to date just to play these games. I will never buy another PC game again.
