In its latest announcement, Microsoft said that it won't be able to attend the inaugural E for All Expo to be held in Los Angeles come October 18 to 21.

Reasons for not attending were not made clear but industry insiders suspect that the proximity to the Tokyo Game Show could be a factor.

This narrows down the big firms attending to Nintendo, Konami, Electronic Arts, THQ, and Namco Bandai. Other publishers of similar stature have either hinted a "no" or are still deciding.

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) had initially stated that it will not be able to make it to the expo, with negative indications also emanating from Midway, Sega, Capcom, and SOE.

The E for All Expo was heralded to be the spiritual successor to the E3 shows of the past which were more public-friendly than this year's business and media summit. It will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center where game fans will be free to roam.

» A little foreshadowing might you think?

Maybe MS should take a hint and just attend for the good of their gaming fans.

I thought the headline read SEGA. I scold MS and sony equally for not attending, same goes for all others and those who were dumb enough to plan it so near TGS. Its only the first year so its just a wag of my internet posting finger.

» what the eff?

who cares if MS doesn't attend, everyone already knows the games coming out... after halo 3 no one is gonna have anything fun to play on 360 so MS is *****ed. and i presume the same goes for Sony (the part about knowing what's coming out already, not the 1 game reliance).

» Hmmm....

Yeah we know what's coming, but that was a good chance for the public to TRY what was comming.

I mean, I don't know how many people will attend this event, but there will probably have only one word comming out of their mouth...Nintendo. It will be a major supporter of the event, so I guess it will have vsibility for the holiday season, and with a little luck, will have E4All organisator in their pockets for the next few years.

» I was refferring to...

the "for all" part of the title. If its for the public, then why not attend and let your most dedicated fans and lucky ones who happen to live near the event try out your games. I knows there are some downsides to doing that and they had to consider it. I'm just saying if they want to win over the hearts of gamers, maybe they should do like Nintendo does.

» E for All = bust

With Sony and MS, who cares anymore? They might as well cancel the whole thing.
