Microsoft says 10.4 million Xbox 360 units sold worldwide |
Microsoft has announced at CES 2007 that they have sold 10.4 million
Xbox 360 units worldwide. Despite the fact that Microsoft is third
in Japan, they have still managed to hit the 10 Million point in only
13 months.
This is quite significant because historically, when a console reaches the 10 Million point in sales, they eventually go on to become the console wars winner.
Currently, Nintendo has sold around three to four Million Wiis in just the first six weeks. So the real concern of Nintendo fans is if the Wii will be able to catch up with the Xbox 360 in time. Nintendo fans see this as highly likely. As for the PS3, it's a matter of them shipping enough units to catch up, getting the games out, and keeping their fanbase loyal.

three million in first six weeks = (if they can keep up with demand) wayyyyy more than ten million in 13 months. Nintendo is definitely on track to win
they need to sort out the games situation in Europe, still no Elebits + no Wario, when I clear Zelda all I'll have left is Monkey Ball
GAMEOVER..............
umm.. even if nintendo does manage to catch up to xbox at 10 million.. xbox still wins cause microsoft makes much more money per console than nintendo does for the wii.. its over already.. and sony.. wow.. can't even say something good about them hahaha..
Nintendo is the only company that made money off consoles at launch. Microsoft finally started making a tiny profit several months ago.
Sony is screwed, and the Wii will probably sell a lot. I question the Wii's longevity though...
great and good points u got there suicideninja.com
SuicideNinja.com is exactly right. And i second your thoughts on long-term market power of the Wii. It will be interesting to see how Nintendo tries to up its value...
Just what I was thinking. 13 months and they finally get 10 million. 2 months and Nintendo has 4 million sold. 360's lead does not look that big really.
360 JUST started to make a profit off the 360 systems. Before then it was nothing but red numbers. Heck they still need to come back from the loss they made from the first xbox. So yea it's hardly over and yes Wii could very well take the lead. Very easy in fact if they keep up the sales they are getting
The 360s 13 million with a shortage at launch is a huge amount,it's not 4 million nintendo it's"around 3 to 4 million" so properly closer to 3 million, the Wii like "all" 3 systems has sold out all stock on release but where the BIG difference comes is in the huge tech leap in the 360 and PS3 which takes a lot more time to develop and produce plenty of than just designing a couple of wave around controllers and using far inferior hardware, the price was appealing to parents especially at Christmas time but let's see how well it is still selling in 6 months when people want to see not just novelty games but games on par with the 360 and PS3.
Whoops I meant 10.4 million in "13" months in the post above.
Err... They said they may reduce their loss or make even when they move to 65nm production, which has not happened yet.
