If Christmas means love and gift-giving to most of us, it stands for something else to big companies: sales and revenues. As proof, Microsoft opted this year to have Xbox 360 bundles rather than issue a price cut. But the season's spirit might not be totally out of this multinational computer technology company as it has something special planned for the HD-DVD.Retail sources declared that as of the moment, Microsoft plans to package the standalone HD-DVD with two movies and sale it for 293 Euros or roughly 371 USD. 'Twas also added that the Premium console could be bundled with the next-generation movie player within the price range of 552-589 Euros (around $699 - $746).
In UK, distributor GEM already offers a bundle containing the Premium X360, two wireless controllers and a copy of Project Gotham Racing 3 for 440 Euros or $557. Furthermore, Microsoft is expected to come up early this November with an official premium package that includes newly released triple-A third-party titles.
Microsoft seems to be taking full advantage of the setbacks Europe experienced with Sony these past weeks. Will they hit pay dirt? Let's all wait and see.
