Mass Effect seems to be a massive hit, with more than a million copies sold in less than three weeks since its release. Its success adds to what Jeff Bell, Xbox 360 Corporate VP of Global Marketing, calls "the best holiday lineup in video game history":

When we look back at 2007, we'll say this was the best holiday lineup in video game history, and this holiday was all about offering the best games lineup for Xbox 360 owners.

That means highlighting games from many different genres to appeal to players with a variety of interests, from Xbox exclusives to industry favorites, including games for families and children.

[...] All the best games this holiday season for everyone in the family are on Xbox 360. It appears that consumers agree as Xbox 360 software is on track to continue outselling software of our competitors combined this holiday season.

Bell also emphasized Halo 3, which was released three months ago and continues to sell. It has sold more than five million copies to date. He further added that Microsoft has delivered on their promise back at E3 when they said they'll deliver the best lineup in history.

Bell's statements adds to Microsoft's previous declaration that this year is their "best release year ever" with games that include hits like Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock (also on PlayStation 3, Wii, PC),Bioshockand Halo 3.

» Xbox = games

I have the money to buy games whenever I want, usually at release, but I know a guy who's getting Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Orange Box, and Rock Band for Christmas. Granted, many of those are multi-platform, but this is definitely the best holiday lineup for any single console ever. That guy will be set for a year
