Rumor: 'Avatars' are Microsoft's take on Mii's and Home? - Image 1

Back when PlayStation Home was first introduced, Nintendo called it the "Mii-too approach." Can someone say Mii-three? Word has spread that Microsoft will be introducing its own Mii-type avatars (simply called Avatars) come this holiday season.

The image above was taken from an online survey, revealing details about the Avatars. According to the site, the Avatars will be fully customizable, and from the looks of it will be far more detailed than their almost-stick-figure Mii counterparts.

Will we be able to make our own Ryu Hayabusa avatar? Or even a Master Chief avatar? Who knows. Aside from taking the place of gamer pictures, no other details have been revealed as to what other features these Avatars have.

For now, this is still classified under rumors, until they are solidly confirmed by Microsoft. With E3 just around the corner, we probably don't have long to wait long either. Penny for your thoughts, gamers?

the ps3 doesn't HAVE home yet...

sony may end up becoming "mii-three" if they don't get their ass in gear and start delivering all the stuff they promised...

sony has failed to deliver a software platform worth a damn, just like M$ is struggling with hardware worth a damn.

why would a standard set of specs developed by an industry body, be bad?

gaming has moved so far away from good games being the focus, i'm about ready to hang up my controllers...

i guess that's pretty cool. wouldn't mind having an avatar. BUT...

but maybe microsoft could make it an option if someone wants to keep/display their gamerpic. for old time's sake - or maybe just for simplicity. cuz sometimes, i hate animated stuff cluttering my screen. kinda like that Mr Paperclip dude from microsoft word. just plain annoying. LOL

i'd rather have a choice on what i want displayed: gamerpic or avatar. depends on my mood.

Speaking of Home I wonder how much of your hard drive that useless service will take up (Assuming it ever becomes a reality). As far as Avatars on the 360, c'mon let's not get stupid. I don't need to sit around customizing some stupid cartoon, a gamerpic is enough. I use my 360 mainly to play games, and the occasional movie, I don't need to mess around with avatars.

I rather choose avatar because all the free gamer pics sucks and you have to pay Microsoft to get some.
