Microsoft has Xbox 360 exclusives for 2009, but they're not talking

Plenty of unannounced Xbox 360 exclusives in 2009 - Image 1We haven't really heard of any great new exclusives for the Xbox 360 since Gears of War 2 and Fable 2, but that's because Microsoft isn't talking about them yet.

According to Xbox Product Management Director Aaron Greenberg, we'll be seeing a lot of new stuff for the 360 this year, including new games and new features:

We sure have not announced our line-up for the full year, and we'll probably wait till later to do that. We typically take the under-promise and over-deliver approach; we like to talk about products a little bit closer to when they're ready to share with consumers.

[...] I would also remind you that we have a massive team focused on innovation. The same team that built the New Xbox Experience is bringing in all types of new experiences to consumers in 2009.

I can safely say that if you're an Xbox 360 owner today, you will end 2009 with a whole slew of new features, new content, new partners, new games that today you don't know about.

Don't get too excited though. We probably won't hear anything for a few months, it's still January after all. Greenberg also said recently that they have two big updates in store for this year, and they have something big planned for the holidays. We'll just have to sit tight and see what they have in store for us.

lol, yeah yeah...

I suppose they'll uncover some normal new game for 2k9... I think M$ will have, for a change, a real battle against Sony this year. Sony is popping the big guns this time, and maybe sony will ONE DAY make a price drop, lol. If sony drop the price with games like god of war 3, killzone 2 or white knight story, sony will surely win the year. Will sony win the gen? I would be very supprised, but I think it would be good for gamers if they would win. M$ could learn that asking money for everything is too much... We're not slaves, we're clients, they should treat us like that and offers tons of freebies, that cost them nothing anyway, like the themes and free online servers!!! I mean, the wii, the ps3 and the PC are free online, on the same games we pay on x360, for the same thing... The PSN is a great service without lags even if tons of x360 fanboys say it's false. I know since I own the ps3 and the x360 too. I only love the x360 more because in some games the controller is better, and because of the library of games. I love sony for their free stuff everywhere, like Home, free online matchmaking, free themes (you can even download custom themes and the program to make them), free etc... I'd like sony to win, and M$ to begin the next gen with way more free and customizable stuff, and for that, those who do it need to win. I think, or at least have a big part of the market. That's it.

wtf

Did you just say online servers cost nothing? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Good ones cost more than most peoples' salaries They don't cost anything for you to play on, but they cost tons to the people who host them. Also I do like how things on PS3 are free, but the themes are a total of one image an some icons... It'd be pretty ridiculous if they had the gall to charge for that. It'd be even more ridiculous than MS theme prices, which at $3 for premium themes is way too much, but some of them are very nice. Still, can't beat free. KZ2 theme ftw. BTW what is this about making themes?

you can make your own themes on ps3

some of the more popular sites where you can download custom themes for your ps3 have the program that you need available for download there. i always mean to make my own but i always find one that i really like.

master chef..

I agree with you man...the themes for the ps3 are prety simple and boaring..i start to fall asleep browsing my xmb...what i wish they did was offer options to customize it further, kinda like what the homebrew scene did to the psp. I used to love! trying all the cool completely different themes people would make that almost made you forget the old xmb..so yea it is a good thing most of the themes on psn are free except a select few..

I found the sites

This seems really cool, but it looks like it takes a long time. Ill try it out someday. I think I'll make an Xbox theme rofl. Until then there are a bunch of rly nice ones on the sites, all free. I'm loving the Windows Vista one I found lol. Some amazing Killzone ones too If you click on the Xbox and Halo themes on allps3themes.com the comments are so funny, from the PS3 and Xbox fanboys alike. Hours of entertainment here http://www.allps3themes.com/2008/08/25/xbox-360-242-theme-3d-icons/ It makes me cry how stupid some of these people are. After that I am certain There is no hope for the human race

yeah, but...

x360 arcade ($200) + 2 yrs of live ($100) + still less than the cheapest ps3, plus u get a 3 yr warranty on top of that, regardless of the reason why its there to begin with. you're gonna pay extra somewhere, and yeah its nice that psn is free but the console price is the highest of all the next gen. i kno the future is blu, but its my god given right as an american to get a blu ray player seperately when and where i want to. i would rather preserve the laser on my console for more important things like games and keep movies on a seperate box if it saves me a couple hundred. not flaming sony, but its just an observation. im a gamer, im sick of watching movies that are crapped out quicker than wii shovelware

..

3 years applies to the RROD only.
by sqrl175 - 2009-01-16 08:06:31
yes

1yr everything, 2 yrs xtra rrod. thats still better than a 1 year alone, considering rrod is bc of the gpu or mobo failing, which are the 2 components in the system that i would expect to after a few yrs (except the dvd drive obviously). this is nice to have, esp if you have a brand new system that is built properly. its just like gaming insurance and peace of mind that you can punish ur system

..

Peace of mind my ass. Everytime you play on the 360 you have to worry about it might get the damn RROD. You say it like it's a good thing for that 3 years warranty. So what happen if you get the RROD after the 3 years?

lol

how desperate micro$oft is, wonder who they paid off this year.

Psch

Wii has the Ninjabread Man. Top that! Just kidding lol, actually, the PS3 will last longer than the 360 simply because of the technology. The 360 will most likely always be cheaper, but the PS3 will be great once the full potential is reached. And it has more features despite what anyone says.. I own a 360 and a Wii btw. I don't know much about linux on PS3, but if it can play Project64, it's a must-have for me. Conker's Bad Fur Day ftw!
