Microsoft debunks Xbox 360 Blu-ray console rumor |

A few days ago, we reported on the rumor that Microsoft has plans of shipping out the Xbox 360 Blu-ray console. The reason being is that the company filed orders to Pegetron Technology to assemble the said unit, as reported by Digitimes.Furthermore, information was released that the said soon-to-be-assembled console was set to ship out by the third quarter of this year.
Regarding this issue, Microsoft has finally released an official statement to straighten things up. The company said in an email to GamePro:
As we have stated, we have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360. Games are what drive consumers to purchase game consoles, and we remain focused on providing the largest library of blockbuster games available.
Hopefully, with the words that have been released, you guys can put your wondering minds at ease. We'll keep you guys updated with more information related to this matter. Don't forget to check up on this space frequently for that.

"We have no plans" does not mean they're not making one. This is standard industry-speak for when they're keeping something quiet.
... but the next MicroS console could possibly be in a dev stage where they need to start looking into this aspect. Merely guessing wildly though...
them working on this "library of blockbuster games" because iv only seen 2 games that they have that i want. otherwise the rest are on the ps3.
dont get me wrong i like my 360 but more of my style of games are on the ps3.. Gears and PGR are the only games that i like on the 360. *halo is a great game* i just dont like fps, thats why i hate halo, and RFOM and soon to be haze!
most people that like movies and game either already have a ps3 and or a 360 with a blu ray player. so it seems pointless to me... but whatever..
... BUT they have to have a HighDef drive for the next console's games or they will fail.
yeah I in the same boat with BTR.
