You probably remember the series of articles we ran on Microsoft Xbox 360 owner Nathaniel over the past few weeks. He's the kid who had an Xbox 360 rigged with artwork and autographs of popular personalities in the game business. Nathaniel sent his unit to Microsoft for repairs, but when it came back, it was practically spotless with all the signatures and art scrubbed off into unrecognizable ink smears. In this case, you could say a spotless Xbox 360 is a ruined Xbox 360.

On second thought, maybe it's not such a bad thing. A week after Bungie heard of the story, they sent Nathaniel a whole bunch of Halo swag. The large box they sent him included  a Legendary Edition Helmet signed by the Bungie staff.

Now the story comes full circle as Microsoft has sent Nathaniel their own goodie box, which includes an Xbox 360 console signed by the original guys who had their signatures on the washed-out Xbox 360.

The package even includes an Xbox 360 faceplate that's been signed by Bill Gates himself. And to make sure it doesn't happen again, the Xbox 360 even has the message "Microsoft: Please do not wash." Here are the rest of the items he received:
  • 1 Xbox 360 console (signed by original RT signers, new artwork by Luke McKay, signatures from Xbox 360 team, additional signatures from Bungie Staff)
  • 1 Xbox 360 faceplate (signed by Bill Gates, among others)
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Lost Odyssey
  • Rainbow Six Vegas 2
  • Gears of War
  • Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
  • 2 ‘WhatÂ’s Your Gamerscore?Â’ Bumperstickers
  • Xbox 360 CD Wallet
  • Signed picture of Bill Gates
Nathaniel has his own say on the matter. He's ecstatic of course, but he also hopes this incident leads to improvements in the service process. Check out Nathaniel's whole reply by following the link below.

That's nice of them, everybody thinks microsoft is bad people. Really they not, they just want people to pay their windows so they can pay their staff members for their hard work on trying to fix the bugs out. I like it that linux is free but you have to type in a bunch of bs to get things spining on it.

and to ps3 fan boys or 360 haters, give them a break. This is their second console, japan is smarter then USA on technology.

microsoft is good people! greedy or not.

I don't really have anything against them, but I'm 99% certain if your signed PS3 got ruined Sony wouldn't do jack sh*t

You know what they gave me when my PS2 got the disc read error one day after the warranty expired? A demo disc. Nice huh?

all you sony fanboys are probably writhing in corners right now. i love them all, but microsoft is smart in doing this.... lol that person is probably crying in happyness. oh well. and plus, if that happened to my PS3, sony wouldnt do *****. but this is service, not the systems, so dont bring the consoles into this. i personly think that both sony and microsoft support SUCKS ASS. but i cant do anything about that.... and this incident proved my theory.

» It was nice...

For Microsoft and Bungie to do all this, but I hope they don't keep babying this kid.

Microsoft:"Oh this game got a high rating, let's send it to Nathaniel, by the way how about we give him a free Live subscription for life. Hey, while we're at it, we had a good quarter sales, how about we buy him and his family a new house."

» By the Way...

If he sold that system on eBay he might be able to pay for college.

If the ps3 had any signatures on it, I don't think anyone would be able to see it anyways.

» you know what's hilarious?

There are at least 3 comments here being like... "Sony fanboys...you suck!" etc...when not a single person commented negatively about MS being evil or Sony being better in any respect.

You guys defensive much? You bring it on yourselves.

That's nice of Microsoft to do that. But is it just me or does the 360 look worse than it did before? Look at the side with all those signatures!!
