Hide your modded 360s from the banhammer - Image 1Xbox 360 users who have modded firmwares may want to steer clear of Xbox Live for a little while. It seems Microsoft is once again exercising its banhammer muscles with a good old-fashioned ban wave.

According to Xbox-Scene, several users of their forums and IRC channels have been banned from Xbox Live. Those who were banned were using Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives with either Xtreme and iXtreme firmwares.

As of the time their report was made, BenQ drives seem to have escaped the banhammer, though that may only be a matter of time. In any case, how do you know if you're banned? It's simple, really.

According to Xbox-Scene, If you have the 'Z Code' 8015-190D it means you are banned. This doesn't ban your account, but only disables your specific console from accessing Xbox Live.

» wait...

so all "bans" simply mean that you can't use that specific banned console on XBL? So you could just transfer your XBL info to another console and keep gaming?

» banning

recently they stated that they were banning also to stop game cheats etc.

OK but then those that cheat to get a higher ranking defeat themselves through the matchmaking process. I am not an experienced online shooter so if I were to manipulate my gamer score I would just get wasted every time i played against others as the system would assume I was a lot better than is true.

As for modding i am on the fence about that issue. I had to replace my copy of overlord as for some reason it ceased to operate. I had the box and the reciept but no no no. I could keep the defect as a memento but pay full price for another copy.

Sorry did I say the word copy. OK the 60 bucks a shot official copy.

» FYI

your gamerscore has nothing to do with ANY online matchmaking.

Yeah, but you would have a defective console. Well you could use it for offline gaming, but who plays offline anymore?

» Just so you know

If you use the latest iXtreme firmware, you're safe. The only people getting banned are the ones too lazy to update.

/doesn't have a hacked 360, not worried

» thnx for the correction

I thought it did?

anyways cheaters are losers by default as they can only live a lie

by logicbomb.de - 2007-11-21 11:44
» exactly

as long as you use iXtreme and compatible STEALTH patched backups, you will be undetectable.

Beware, not all 360 disc images are created equal and just because the nfo says its stealth patched, doesn't mean you're 100% safe.

As said before on xbox-scene forums, the ony 100% safe methods is to create your own backups

» wow

logicbomb.de your completely wrong there has been ppl who made their own & still got banned if sum ppl claimed 2 be playing original games on their ixtreme fw & still got banned

by logicbomb.de - 2007-11-21 12:19
» okay sure

sucks to be them.

» who plays offline anymore

I do. I find single player games much more fun, and I do not care to spend $60 on a game that is only made for online play.

But, modders bring this on them selfs for the most part. I for the most part do not see the big deal with modding stuff, but that is just me.

» lol

if you aint cheating you aint winning!

hahaha lol

by Novincia - 2007-11-21 21:34
» I do too, but....

I meant to say who plays _only_ offline. Sure I enjoy singleplayer games, but I get much more value for my money if it has an online mode. I spend much more playing online than single.

» This is Wrong news !

Taken from XXXboxscene dot com

It appears that modified fw is NOT being detected, and is instead once again due to 'bad' discs. Keep in mind that the only full proof way to make a 1:1 backup is to do it yourself. iXtreme is as fullproof as it can be, in that it validates everything it possibly can from a firmware point of view, but a game can have slight data change somewhere, most commonly in DMI. Or it can be due to early copies being watermarked so to speak.

I Still believe that making your own copies is the best.
