Microsoft: 360 vs PS3 war in US already done, will now focus on Europe

Xbox 360 - Image 1With a change of tactics, Microsoft is now aiming to take their battle elsewhere. According to MS Europe VP Chris Lewis, the battle between the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America is pretty much over and done with.

Lewis notes that Microsoft has already "done the job we need to in North America," without going into explicit detail whether or not it meant that the Xbox 360 has actually won the battle. He did say that they want to up the success rate of the 360 over in Europe.

It's a very textured region. You've got places like the UK and the Nordic countries... where we've been able to apply our more North American approach to those markets with genuine success.

In the sunnier parts of Europe we did have relatively less success up until the last 12 months where I think we have better understood the need to go to those markets with more appropriate content.

I'm not sure who is more embarassing, justin or melty? I'm gonna go with melty just cuz of his racist tendencies.

It sound as if they gave up in North America.

» Maybe

MS has taken a huge chunk of market share from Sony, going from next to nothing with the Xbox to the majority with the 360. Sony could bounce back with a price drop and better marketing, but it's doubtful at this point in time. It does seem over in NA, but you never know

Also lol @ guy above me. You're dumb

» Wow

I'm dumb to say that it sound like they're giving up. Did I make a comment that offend you? All I said is that it sound like they're giving up.

It sounds more like they have some breathing room in north america and now want to focus elsewhere until sony starts catching up again.

everywhere that refers to games, is either the 360 for the more "hardcore" stuff. they never talk about the ps3 over here....damn FPS pricks

but I think it's justified if that's what you want.. I have all three consoles, and I honestly feel like the Playstation 3 has given me the most for my money (I have a 60GB launch).. It comes with wireless, and the 360 either has to have a $100 add on attached or be connected through a PC for that.. And I like how the controllers have their built in batteries. The controllers are small but I like the ease of use (if your hands don't cramp heh).. And I'm really bad at noticing small differences in graphics so I won't go there, I don't care if the game is 720p. 1080i, 1080p, I play on both a 52 inch and a 32 inch HDTV and it all looks the same to me.

I think Sony will even out with Microsoft, then surpass it in years to come.. The 360 is already old, and the PS3 has a lot of high end technology in it and I'm sure it'll do what the PS2 is doing now

God damn ps3 fanboys... PS3 lost in NA. Badly. It doesnt mean its a bad system. It just means 360 beat it. This isnt open for discussion like the normal fanboy wars debates. This is proven fact. 360 annihilated ps3 in north america. Period. You PS3 fans need to accept it already.

blkthunda. Your right. Microsoft gave up in North America. Gave up wasting money to compete with a company that is no competition. When your a mile ahead in a race the points proven no reason to keep going full force.

Such a fanboyish comment and you call Americans dumb. I didn't think it was possible. But you sir have proven yourself less intelligent than an entire nation. Have fun with your 600$ paper weight because believe me, your one out of only a dozen that will. Jackass.

by DTBdaman5 - 2009-04-16 02:53
» Yes you are right

It is what you want. I only got the PS3 and Wii because I love them, the PS3 for the media center and the Wii because it's fun. Your comment is well said.

» ok

And all I said was lol you're dumb, how does that sound like I'm in any way offended?

BTW I said you're dumb because the article does not sound at all like MS is "giving up", and how you extrapolated that I can't figure out. MS are saying they've already won

» Hmmm

$5 says roflnando and melty are the same person having a flamewar with themselves.

Any takers?

How can PS3 fanboys compare media center capabilities with gaming capabilities? I have a laptop with hdmi out.....does that make it better than the PS3? Don't get me wrong, I have a 60gb launch system but I only own one game for it. On the other hand I have ~15 games for my 360.....and for the record, I don't care how many dvds a damn blu ray is equal to....honestly(do the ps3 fanboys remember screaming FF to xbox gamers? remember those multiple discs? oh right, that was different). And why would anyone want the batteries to the controller built in? If they die you get to go drop another $60 on a new controller....and u just got ninja'd by $ony.
