That must have been one hell of a game Tyrone Spellman was playing when his daughter pulled on the cords of his console and interrupted his playing. Maybe he was having a really good run with the game so when his 17-month old daughter Alayiah pulled the cords and caused his console to fall, he was mad enough to punch the little girl...twice. Sound reasonable? Hell no.Tyrone Spellman was known to be a good, non-violent husband and father to their neighbors at 1500 block of 29th Street, North Philadelphia. This is why the news came as a shock to those who knew the couple, as they knew Spellman as someone who would never harm a child, much less commit murder.
Mia Turman, the child's mother, left Alayiah with her husband and when she came back to check on their daughter, she asked her husband why their child wasn't breathing, and all Spellman reportedly said was "She's breathing." That's when Turman called the police and the medics took Alayiah to Temple University Hospital, where the little girl was pronounced dead at 12:37 p.m.
According to Turman, not only did Spellman punch the little girl twice, he also could have slung their child over a chair. When asked why she thought his husband would do such a thing, she said that she will never understand why her husband did this and that there will never be a reason good enough to justify what Spellman did. Spellman was charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child and possessing an instrument of crime. What instrument? We don't know exactly. (Does the Xbox qualify as an instrument of crime???)
An NBC reporter said that there was a note on the door of the couple's home, saying that the people shouldn't judge Spellman because he's a good man. But if that's the case then, don't you think it becomes all too easy to put the blame on video games and their addicting nature instead? Tsk Tsk. It's news like this that give video games a bad rep. See, we have to remember that no matter how you turn it upside down, inside out, it still IS just a game folks. Real life - more important.

Maybe I should clarify the point I made in #6... By no means do I hate black people. I love black people. I am a huge liberal and veyr much against racism. I just have a strange sense of humour. There’s no subtle difference between games, gambling, drinking, smoking, taking drugs, and some other things. All of these will cause metal, physical, social, and some other forms of damages to those who are addicted to them.
If any other $400+ item broke, in a rare occurence such as this, such a sad result will happen.

Well, that's a case of bad parenting. Why wasn't he watching his little girl? Why would he resort to hitting a little child, A little spanking on the behind sounds like what was needed, not a vicious punch. Obviously the wires were not concealed, making them a hazard. I've reacted sometimes like when I got fragged in a intense deatmatch and lost the lead 10secs before the end I've thumped the computer desk and shattered the thing and what did I do...continued playing till my mum walked in too me hunching over the remains of my desk with a bloody hand and was like WTF!
I know when I'm in a intense game my brain practically shuts off my house could be burning down and I'll be none the wiser till the smoke becomes to thick to see the screen through
However that isn't to say Games in general are the antichrist that turn good men bad its just depends on the individual and how much "system resources" he can set aside for tasks like common sense and self control

Many of you have seemingly gotten away from the point by discussung race. This is really not about race..... all races commit crimes of some sort. But this is about a crazy man, possessed by something evil that caused him to kill his very own. Whether he was on drugs, obsessed with this game and obviously controlled by it, what he did was wrong, and I hope he gets punished to the maximum extent of the law. He actually needs to get the death penalty for this. It was said that he is a 'good man' ... are you kidding me! Those indviduals who say this are just as crazy as he is!
