Major Nelson: Microsoft to reset Gamerscores of cheaters

Previously, Major Nelson of Microsoft spoke that they would cancel Gamerscores of cheaters' accounts. Well, today's the day wherein they will be taking concrete steps in doing this particular act.

He just updated his blog saying that they were able to take action on some of the accounts that they've identified as being owned by serious offenders of the Xbox Live Terms of Use.

Those who have tampered with their Gamerscore and Achievements are now classified as offenders and/or cheaters. Major Nelson even posted the three steps that they take whenever they would reset the Gamerscores of cheaters:

Resetting the entire Gamerscore for an account to zero
The account will be unable to regain all previously obtained achievements and Gamerscore, however, the players will have the ability to gain future Achievements by earning them fairly, like the majority of the Xbox Live community does.
The account will be clearly labeled as a cheater for the community to view on Xbox.com. In dash, the personal view of the gamercard will be labeled as well.

So if you're probably entertained the thought of trying to rake in so much with your Gamerscore through some illegal manner, don't bother doing so. The risk is far too great. Hopefully, this notification would serve as a stern warning for all Xbox Live users.

I hope they dont think I'm a cheater as my gamerscore is 21,312 and I did all that without cheating.

It can get higher if I replay all those games and get all the achievements I can.

My GS is over 67,000 and I DID cheat for about 2-3000 of it, I gamesaved a couple games I rented that were so atrocious I couldn't bare to play them but I didn't want to send them back with 0/1000, and my account is fine.

i dont think if you did the seriously glitch for example they reset you, i think it only get external achievement gain from pc or something, but befor they do stuff like this they should fix achievements, like gears i had to get 200 of everything for them ***** as 20g a pop while everyone else only had to do like 80 in some cases, pissed me right off, but that stripslubdj is an ass, the highest G is like 220,000+ or something like that now i think

Mines 23,000 something and i did it without cheating. Ya dont see me making a big deal about it.
