Love is a battlefield, and it's time to get a-killing. Despite the somewhat cute banner on their website, Gaming Angels is actually sponsoring a Valentine's day-related Gears of War tournament. The prize: Dinner for two for the top three couples in the tournament.Yes folks, we said "couple." Their tournament requires each team to be a male-female fighting force. They have made some allowances for the sake of love, as the female player you join up with doesn't have to be your significant other. If your sister frags better than you do, pay her to play for your team.
Trina, the head of the Gaming Angels website, will be accepting entry requests until February 2, so you may want to get in on the action and see if you can't frag your way to victory (and a post-Valentine's Day celebration). For now, feel free to check on the source for info on registering for the tourney, but remember these details before you start saying, "Marcus Fenix, I wish I knew how to quit you."
- The contest will be random Gears of War multiplayer maps. The first round tournament matches will be set before play begins. Rooms are 2 x 2. The winner is best out of 5.
- The contest is open to all mature ages because the game is rated M.
- The couples have to be male and female. The second person can be a friend/sister/cousin etc.
- All microphones have to be on during play or couple will be disqualified.
- There are 6 open slots for single players to be matched up if you do not have someone to play with.
- If someone reports that a team is not playing by the rules, they will be disqualified.
- The contest is limited to sixteen teams (could be expanded to max 24 if there are a lot of entries).
- If any team is late by 10 minutes they are disqualified and the other team gets a win.
