South Park screen - Image 1"South Park", the controversial Emmy Award-winning animated series by Matt Stone and Trey Parker is coming to an Xbox 360 near you. On March 6, Microsoft and Viacom will be releasing the first HD episode of "South Park". The episode titled "Good Times with Weapons" will be available for free to all Xbox Live members for two weeks. (This is the episode with the song "Let's Fighting Love" in it, a definite classic.)

From March 20 to April 3 this year, all purchases of Xbox 360 consoles or HD-DVD add-on players from Best Buy will entitle buyers to free HD-DVD discs with the episode. For those who are fans of the show, you will be glad to know that this Wednesday, on Comedy Central they will be starting the 11th season. New episodes will be available the week after on the Xbox 360.

...from other sources on the net, the actual deal is that the HD episode of South Park will be available for free as a download, or as a free HD-DVD to purchasers of an Xbox 360 *OR* the add-on HD-DVD player.



That makes much more sense.

WTF is the point of an HD cartoon? The whole point of HD is to see more details in higher clarity, which cartoons purposefully lack. I can't see there being a big difference between an HD cartoon and a standard-def cartoon besides maybe a slightly brighter, more vibrant picture. Good thing it's free.
