"A Future Wide Open: Unleashing the Creative Community" is his speech that will set the stage for groundbreaking changes for game development for the year 2008.

According to our source, John Schappert's keynote speech is scheduled to be delivered on February 20, 2008, from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. in the Esplanade Room of the Moscone Center's South Hall.

Being the Corporate Vice President of LIVE, Schappert supervises Microsoft's gaming platforms and business, with Xbox 360, Games for Windows, XNA game development tools, MSN Games and Windows LIVE messenger and Windows games. Having such an experience makes Schappert a good candidate to be the keynote speaker.

Jamil Moledina, executive director of GDC commented on Schappert's upcoming speech for the 2008 GDC, "The Game Developers Conference is the premiere stage for industry leaders to present their strategies for advancing the state of the art of games."

His address will venture into the next step of Xbox 360 in democratizing game development - making way for developers of all sizes to take part in the gaming industry. Also, Schappert will discuss how the role of online gaming will shape the industry and reveal his company's plans for the Xbox 360 platform in 2008.

Ray Kurzweil will also be giving a key note speech for the 2008 GDC.

We'll be keeping you posted for updates on Schappert's speech as they come.
