Jeff Bell: Microsoft misjudged U.S. demand, Xbox 360 in shortage |
Ó
The holiday season of 2007 was definitely a blast, but Microsoft reportedly did not expect that the hot hardware sales it experienced as last year came to a close will carry over to the succeeding year. According to Jeff Bell, Microsoft corporate vice president of global marketing, there's a shortage of Microsoft Xbox 360 consoles in the U.S."We are really running short of product here in the United States. You could say we misjudged demand," Bell told Reuters in an interview. Not only does he believe the industry giant's sales will take damage from unexpectedly high demand, but Bell suspects "the overall industry number to be down a little bit."
Retailers, on the other hand, are not very happy with the lack of consoles to sell. While Bell acknowledges their concerns, he thinks the problem can last until spring when Microsoft will finally be able to meet demand.

They're Officially unofficially happy about this news.
I guess if it works for the Wii, it could work for them too. Perhaps it has to do with that design being discontinued and the new one that's to be announced taking its place?
MS can spin RROD into a maintenance issue, why can't they spin this into a "shortage".
Knowing Microsoft this is no shortage but who are we to judge?? They may really be having a shortage but it would make more sense for theyre shortage to be real than Nintendos.
if they have a shortage in the US come take some from canada. we had gigantic stacks here during christmas and we still do.
Oodles and oodles of them around here. A couple of PS3's, very few PSP's and DS's, and no Wii's(as usual)
well they need to start a Recycle program for broken Red Ring Of Death but this is micro$oft, they got more money then everybody else on the planet.
