Jade Empire 2 confirmed, going cross-platform? |
It's already been two years since BioWare's role-playing game Jade Empire for the original Xbox was released, and now we've heard that the game will be getting a sequel for the Microsoft Xbox 360. According to Mercury News' source, s/he has already seen the code for the Jade Empire 2 game that's currently in development. This is the only detail provided about the BioWare game though.
The previous Jade Empire games were released only for Microsoft's console and Windows PCs, but rumors are circulating that since Electronic Arts has already acquired BioWare and Pandemic Studios, there's a chance that Jade Empire 2 might be available not only for the Microsoft Xbox 360, given EA's penchant for producing cross-platform games. This is just a rumor though, no comment from EA yet.
Keep checking back for updates on the Jade Empire sequel.

My guess would be that MS is the publisher as with the previous game and that they have been funding development before EA came along. If that's the case it'll be a 360 exclusive for sure.
Depends who has ownership of the name
eh...no. The publisher decides how the game gets distributed and thats signed in terms on a contract before the project is started. The publisher takes ownership of the title.
Why would MS fund a title for development that could be distribute on other platforms without their permission and without them receiving any royalties for money they have invested development?
In most cases the developer retains the IP. Which means they can make future titles with the IP.
