Is Dead Rising Out For Your Xbox's Brains Again? |
Ó
Well, here's something familiar that we've been hearing about since the
game's launch. Until now, more people are relating their experiences
with Dead Rising which range from freezing up or not starting at all.
Though many also state that the game runs on their systems just fine
and that perhaps problematic games may just need more ventilation for
the consoles, the number of people who have not been so fortunate is
getting a little hard to ignore.Various members of message boards such as the ones in Capcom.com, Ars Technica and IGN have related their experiences of getting a disc read error message though though they had a pristine copy of the game. Some have even told stories of pausing Dead Rising to get up for a while, and then coming back to find the disc error message on their screens. Some have said that what solved the problem was removing the hard drive, thus hinting that the ultimate solution for everyone else experiencing this problem may be a patch for the game itself.
One member also says that he called Microsoft support and was told that there are "multiple known issues with Dead Rising and that MS is working with Capcom on a fix." With so many people testifying that there are various issues about this game that needs to be fixed, as well as the acknowledgement that has been received from MS support that there is indeed a problem with the title, what does this spell for the future of this game?

What happend to the days where you'd get a console game knowing that it was going to run perfect. I think developers need to spend a little more time finding these bugs first, instead of just shipping out a bug ridden copy of a game knowing they can just patch those issues later.
I have a lauch 360 and it has had no problems until dead rising came out.
Now Saints Row is also freezing my xbox.
I believe that my launch 360 does not have the capibility to play these new games because they are too proc demanding and heat the box up too much.
I called Microsoft and they said the unit was in need of a $139 "repair". This is an outrage...! There is nothing broken about my xbox 360, it simply can't play the new games because the hardware was faulty from day 1.
Please please, raise a stir about this who else is having these problems? I believe it is false advertizing and fraudulent for Microsoft to sell a 360 that can't play 360 games..... I should not have to pay for a repair, they lied to me about what the machine could do. I am guessing in later revisions of the 360 it can handle more power, more heat etc.
Its such a scam! Please what can I do, I don't want to pay the $139 "repair" fee. I KNOW they are going to replace the whole box... Its just not fair that my 360 can NOT play the games it was advertized to play. There must be some legal egde in this way of looking at it.
Think about it... $450 for a premium console, $50 for another controller, $40 for 2x play and charge packs, $100 for wireless adapter, $60 for xbox live, $200 for HD DVD add on, and now $140 for a "repair" so it can play the finally decent games that come out, and an additional $60 for an extended 2yr warranty to make sure the box doesn't die again soon..... My god thats $1200! AND I already spent $500 in games and accessories too.
Why the heck should I have to pay $140 for this FAKE repair and them to give me a box that actually plays the new (and proc demanding) 360 games?
Guys you cant blame a game developer for your 360 heating up lol. You think I will blame somebody if my PC gets to hot? No! I add more fans or gett a better heatsink. Same with the 360. Microsoft didnt design a good cooling system for this rig. I modded mine with better fans and much better cooling. It runs flawless now with any game. You think my PC only has 2 fans to keep her cool? HELL NO! Good job Microsoft!!!!
What fan mod did you do exactly? I am very interested to do something like that myself rather than pay $140......
I got the pelican fan vertical stand forced air thing, but its weak and doesnt fix the problem.
Any instructions, links, or suggestions for what fan to use and how to mod to make run cooler?
Here is a link to what I did.

this game sucks its like gta 3 but in a ghetto way. im sick of the xbox 360 messing up. good job thq
I purchased dead rising when it just came out. The game would load fine, I could see the title screen and everything like that but I soon as I hit the 72 hour story mode I got an error message that the disc is dirty. I tried it about another 4 times and still the same thing. Then i removed my Hard Drive and tried and the game... WORK perfectly fine but with out the hard drive i couldn’t save any freaking progress. So i called Microsoft and was told that they had been receiving a couple of calls with the same problem and to contact Capcom to see when a patch would come out. I tried contacting Capcom but was not able to get a hold of no one. So what i did is that (1st) i got an Xbox 360 memory card and i copy my game profile from the Hard Drive to the Memory card. (2nd) I removed my Hard Drive from the Xbox 360 and loaded the game... It worked. (3rd) I saved the progress into the memory card and turned off the Xbox 360. (4th) I connected the Hard Drive back and moved the save file from the memory card to the Hard Drive. (5th) Removed memory card and started the game. Now instead of going into start new game i load the saved progress and guess what..... it Worked !!
That's cool and all, but you are not sane if you were expecting to spend $1200+ on this console and not opt for the warranty.
So you can either spend $100 for the two-year extended warranty, or you can wait 'till it breaks and spend $140 for a one-time repair. Where the fu*k is the logic in that?
the xbox 360 problems is a big one. one of the best consoles made was the xbox it was big and all but it had no problems, modded it the greatest thing since sliced breat.
the 360 so far is not looking so good the controllers d-pad sucks and the system freezies sometime. i have seen ring of death on lost planet demo, rebooted works fine, froze twice on the test drive demo, and dont get me started on doa that happends all the time online. i never had a big heat issues its just the system has been out for almost a year and the problems are still there.
just think about this when games start pushing the system
this could be bad microsoft they need to improve, and soft ware companys need to test their products and stop with the patching this is a console for a reason to bi-past the paching bs and issues of the pc.
this the first console where i heard a system replaced four times by a person.my friend and his brothers broke, they had to replaced it, and every other games need to be patched.
I bought dead rising when it came out and a few days later my xbox started acting wierd. It would freeze and then finally it started spitting out the dvd and wouldn't play any games. I called MS and they said it'd be $130 to fix it. I'm currently awaiting repairs and have no idea how long it will take. I have not been able to play saints row even though ive had it on preorder for 2 months. This really pisses me off. MS better get this stuff fixed or the ps3 will swallow the 360 and its 1 year lead easily. My brother constantly teases me about how bad the 360 is and now he has sworn to not get one after this ordeal. The MS support was horrible also, I was on hold for a little over 45 minutes at one point with the call lasting about 2 hours total. They also lie and say that this is an uncommon problem even though when I searched it on the forums it didn't seem so uncommon to me. If my repaired xbox breaks im going to throw it out the window and save up for a ps3, this is lame.
This is a bunch of BS people....I have a launch 360, just bought DR and have monitored the heat off my 360 while playing it...and guess what, it's no hotter then oblivion, if not a little cooler.
How is it going to overheat more then any other game, are they overclocking it ? No, sure maybe there are more times when the cpu is going full load, but I guess there are in obvlivion as well....
Anyways if DR or SR or anygame is making your console screw up, the it was the will of the video game gods and you are unlucky....it's pathetic how bad people are looking for reasons to down on the 360.....
Oh and before you say "why have so many people said something". It's because we live in a day and age where every little peckerhead can get on the internet and voice his complaints, so you hear more about errors and such, then count for 25-50% of the stories to also be fabricated...
Just because you dont have problems with it doesn't mean people who do are "peckerheads". Why would you bother defending Microsoft, they obviously have horrible customer service and have put out MANY faulty units.
I slapped a USB powered fan onto the back of the 360 to suck more hot air out, and I think it may have helped.... I could play Saints Row for a whlie.
MS has made me so mad and they handled it horribly. I am going to mod my dvd firmware and add a few fans inside to stick it to the man. This is what they get when they treat me poorly.
M$ you suck!
Your an idiot for comparing this game with GTA3. Thats all I wanted to say. You are an idiot!
I agree that just because he has no problems doesn/t mean nobody else does, but they don't treat anyone poorly, everyone has nothing but praise for MS's customer service. Most people send their broken one back and get a new one within one week.
And yeah, you're a dumb@ss if you didn't buy the warranty. I bought the warranty for my $120 MP3 player...
If you want to know what bad customer service is call up Sony
I've had my 360 for 3 or 4 weeks with ZERO problems. Last night I rented DR, played for an hour or so and saved my progress. This morning when i turned the system on it locked up on the game start screen. I have tried removing the HD, trying different games etc and now I can't get past the initial XBOX360 splash screen. Luckily I bought the warranty but I can't believe that a game was released that essentially makes my $399 console a paperweight....at least when there are bugs in pc games they games just crash not take out your pc.
I cant say for sure if its the games that are causin the system to brake but Microsoft needs to focuse more in trying to see what is causin the system to brake. If people continue to have problems with their Xbox 360 months later the PS3 comes out people are going to start moving to the PS3.
I agree with you 100%. I have over 20 titles including DR and SR with zero problems.
I feel for the people with freezing consoles. Buts seriously #2, send it in for repar or STFU. Legal action, What are you 12? Microsoft lied becasue yours is less powerful or over heats???? You cant be serious with this argument. The specs are the same on every console. Your argument may look sound (Or less completely moronic) if you actually thought about possible manufacturing errors.
